This is up there with a couple of others as my favorite on the album.

Something about this song has been gnawing at me, and I realize it’s because it reminded me of another song (although they don’t sound the same). When the prayer vocals come in, it completely reminds me of the first voice used in Blood on the Motorway by DJ Shadow. Anyone else hear it? Or am I crazy?

And yeah, I was gonna say, like... I was raised in a very Christian household and hearing the prayer takes me back to a VERY warm and fuzzy place. Feels like I'm getting tucked into bed.

A prayer to the Antichrist.

On my first listen, I hated this song. Sounded cheesey. Hated the “Capricorn” he said the thing part. About 10th or 11th listen of the album now and I am obsessed with this one. I listened to all the three separate vocal sample sources, then back again to the song I really appreciate how they assembled this one. Keep coming back bow to just play this one on repeat. Now live it when I hear (more than one) Capricorn.

I mean, yeah, that's what the other sample is talking about/juxtaposed with.

But in its original context the prayer is to Jesus. The ...posi-Christ. Hence the warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia. My whole early life was full of that rhetoric, that cadence of concepts and ideas, and now it's all attached to feelings of comfort and warmth.

I wonder how much significance the samples have. I think BoC have always had a knack for sound bites that are phonetically interesting but meaningless. "Orange! Yeah that's right!"

It's a conspiracy theorist trying rearrange letters in "Usama" to prove Bin Laden was some kind of antichrist? That's pretty obnoxious. Then you have the astrological theme about the age of capricorn. What's the message? Just some contemporary/futuristic biblical adaptation where Osama was an antichrist and the Christ returns in the year 4000?

Nevertheless this was a track that evoked nostalgic feelings for me about 80s-90s retrofuturistic imagery.

It’s a Mike solo track right? Something something maybe the real Mabus was the Marcus who stopped making music along the way. He’s praying for Marcus to return and save the band. He bore Mike’s sin of playing too much guitar on TCH

(Or whatever)

Perhaps we have people giving in to the divine, asking for deliverance, the end times, etc. But what if the antichrist does come but instead of resolution, things just go on? The age of Capricorn.

Searching half-arsedly for the KAPricoorrrrrn sample, and stumbled on something seemingly obscure that smells about right:

https://www.discogs.com/master/1665178- ... Astro-Disc

The only easy audio I can find is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsFbMUYIVRs&t=29s, but it's the female voice. I cant find the male vocal (noted on discogs) as easily, but if it sounds like that bit at 29s, I'd say you could treat it, remove the drum hit etc...
I remember when this was fields

I think on past listens I've undervalued how emotionally charged that prayer is. The speaker was probably not being phony at all and wholeheartedly believed in what he was saying, even if it sounds a bit commercial. It is a powerful sample and they did some impressive processing on it too, I was surprised that it came from a TV sample from the 90s. It sounds like he's talking close to a high-end microphone in a studio but in the 80s instead of recently so that it sounds simultaneously hi-fi and aged.

I came up with this theory right before falling asleep last night that this track has to do with 2000 year intervals. Christ came to earth around the year 0, Osama the Mabus appeared around the year 2000 and then the Christ will reappear around the year 4000

If you're talking about the prayer, thats from a tape by evangelist Jack Van Impe

the spelling voice, beats me. John Hogue (I think thats his name) did a similar thing on the Art Bell show once, but he has a much deeper voice so if its sampled from him, they messed it about quite a bit

The voice saying "Capricorn" right now is a mystery
