I suppose it'd be a third, and I agree. :O
To expand on last night's tired comments I'd say OOT1 was a summery album, leading into OOT2, sort of autumny...

I say we drop the BoC feel and do something new for the next compilation.

word! i'm getting into all kinds of styles that don't sound as much like a BoC wannabe and i'd like to see what a comp would look like with everyone else doing their own thing!

I believe someone suggested the idea of having the same BPM for all submissions?

I'd be okay with this, just so long as we're able to create variations on it, like if it's a faster BPM having the option of making your beat 1/2 as fast and doing a slower beat in 1/2 the BPM so it's still mixable or something.

I was originally a proponent of the BPM idea, but somehow I feel like that's not enough to go by to create a class coherent album.

I still am a fan of the reggaeton idea.

i know it's harder to mix, but i think the sheer unabated variety in style is part of what makes OoT so awesome.

Yeah but isn't part of that the sheer unabated variety in BPM?

Different BPMs add to the variety yeah, but they don't alone make or break it - I'm not trying to champion the BPM idea at all. Personally I think OoT4 would be fine to just be themeless.

My comment was actually intended to express that idea - I feel like OoT doesn't need any additional regulation to be great. But I'm not strictly opposed to it either.

I think the five minute time limit should be lifted, and anyone can submit how ever many songs they want, to allow Aesthetics a wider range of material to choose from. I don't know if this would actually make it easier for you Aesthetics, with a lot more material to weed through it might actually worsen the process.

Just a suggestion...

Anyone ever considered choosing a subject around which all tracks are to be based?
Like, say, Volcanoes or Birds or 70s TV programs, or surrealism.

Or a genre album? One On Twoism: On Reggae

Or... we could do like they do on Songfight: Pick out a title, make the cover art, and then have everyone do songs they think will fit.

BTW I totally hate the BPM idea.

That could be fun. I like themes.

Actually, a genre album could be a very interesting creative challenge for many of us

How about we vote on a few photographs to use to "center" the inspiration for the album. Perhaps a few of nature. Then we each create our own musical interpretation of the photo(s).
