I think I remember hearing about this....didn't Wilco use a sample or something from one of these in their album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"? (a great album by the way!)

anwyays, this is some spooky stuff....I am suprised BOC hasn't sampled anything from this (at least none that I know of....)

After hearing some of the samples, I almost came to that conclusion but was not completely sure...thanks for confirming my suspicions....

That is a distinct possibility, but you can sample number stations of the radio waves if you've got the right kit.
I used to a radio about 10 years ago that covered all sorts of frequency ranges, and I recorded hours of these broadcasts.
A lot of BOC samples come straight from the web though, for example :

I have the connet project disk set, and have used samples from it in many of my songs.

I actually have a scanner that I use sometimes for grabbing my own samples along the same lines :-)

The long standing rumour that Boc sampled from The Conet Project is actually erroneous, people just immediately assumed that's what they used (in say Gyroscope) but in fact it's actually a genuine original number station recording given to them by Sean booth from Ae. Most other occasions Boards created the samples from scratch themselves, their friends saying the numbers, perhaps based on number station recordings. This was confirmed by Hexagon Sun.

i have the box set put out by irdial back in the day, and it's definitely a badass 'document' to own...very deadly collector type item. i also used to have beautyon's No02 cd, a ridiculous cd that was created entirely inside a computer (quite amazing at the time i would say)...unfortunately it got ripped off by some douchebag.

the other badass collector cd that i never found but still wouldn't mind owning is the VLF recordings irdial put out...

irdial was a very interesting label back in the 90's. anthony manning's records were pretty amazing at the time.

A little cross-reference here for you.

In this thread, you'll find details of the "Woodpecker" or "Buzzer" station, as heard on CD4, Track32 of Conet.

Photos, 3-d Google model, etc of this sinister looking station, found just outside Chernobyl/Pripyat in Ukraine. This was part of Russia's 'Over The Horizon Radar' early warning system during the cold war. Now, where have we heard that term before? It sounds so familiar...

this thing the chiese gov't have got going on for the last couple of years is called the Firedrake Jammer, it broadcasts on almost all known shortwave freq's. which is against int'l law.

Sounds great though! Better music than most "proper" radio broadcasts in the UK :D

Isn't it a bit spooky that there are numbers being broadcast constantly everywhere? Texts, Wi-Fi, etc. When you think about it, it's like humans are manifesting an invisible math-based dimension.
Numbers stations give me the creeps
