It just struck me that the pad/keys loop in Whitewater is maybe the most BOC thing BOC ever did.

Whitewater genuinely is almost one of my favorite BOC tracks for just about that reason. I think it's a little bogged down by its repetition of phrases/length (which I can imagine is part of why it stayed on BOC Maxima). But, I'm so enchanted by how a layer of Tape 05 seems to reprise what's going on in it.

While I am happy that these are out there, the idea that ATP track 07 is an unreleased song from the 80s is so farfetched to me, and I hate every time I see it referred to as "Noatak."

It is clear that of the three live performances we have knowledge/tracklists/recordings of, they are performing contemporary songs or at least songs they are maybe considering for that current period or album about to come out. Take Lighthouse track 03 for example, it would so clearly fit on Geogaddi because it's cut from the same sonic palette.

Please stop with the 'Noatak' name

Sounds like a super short sample loop time on a sampler, being slightly scrubbed. Akai S900 came out in 86? Not the only sampler either, they were running a Casio FZ1 back then, in fact didn't they have one on stage at ATP? I dunno if that can do the same trick, I know the Akais can, I had a 950 from a few years later and that definitely could.

You can spot two samplers in some of the live photos that weren't taken at ATP. IIRC in their rack it was an Akai S3000/3200 and a Yamaha A3000/4000/5000. Not sure what was doing the sequencing though. They did mention in an old interview that they were considering the MPC2000 for live sequencing but that doesn't necessarily mean they bought one.

I'm immensely grateful we at least got to hear these 3 recordings, they're stunning. It's quite jarring to hear it so clean without all the crowd noise.

"The only thing people learn from history, is that they don't learn from history."

Pretty sure most people on reddit were not even aware of GY!BE community, let alone could put that incident in context.

So, how do we track down the person that uploaded these and let him know he dealt with the wrong sect of the BOC community and should come to Twoism? We can rehabilitate in exchange MP3s!

Amazing. I still kindof prefer the room recording with crowd sounds. It’s like a mythical BOC live show in my head. I might have to mix the two recordings. Bliss!

Its crazy to hear how raw the ATP07 track is.... A BOC track in the wild with none of their mixing and mastering wizardry really goes a long way to show their inner workings.

Clearly not 'Noatak' or 'hair of the dog' or any suggestions I'd seen before from the old recording.

Sounds like 'Over the top' to me.

Mind blown finally getting to hear the soundboard of ATP07. It actually sounds a lot more sparse than I would have guessed initially. And the bass, which sounds devastatingly evil in the bootleg, is actually pretty lean on the soundboard version.

Track 7 sounds even darker and more disturbing without the crowd noise. I actually prefer it this way and hope we get to hear the rest of the set eventually.

I’m still totally convinced the voice says “Noatak” (albeit with an unusual pronunciation) even if the track has nothing to do with the one from Hooper Bay.

Was just saying to someone that this shows it's not Noatak, so there we go. We all hear different things! Sounds more like Every-tard (please no!) or Emmental to me.

Imagine an old-fashioned RP-speaker saying “Noah’s Ark” but change the S to a T so it’s more like “noah-tark” and that’s what I hear.
