This shouldn't be about Christian, or Atheist, or Agnostic, or any of that. Why cant people believe what they want to without someone else judging them to be totally ignorant if they don't believe like them. If the Christian, or Atheist or whoever truly had the answer and actually cared about the other people, wouldn't it make sense to LOVE them, SHOWING them what it is that makes the difference instead of tearing them down because of what they believe?

Just a thought.

This exactly my point! Thanks

Before this thread goes any further can we decide WHO the hell we're talking about and WHO exactly are some of you trying to defend?

EDITED: AND again....

This should be about "WHO the hell we're talking about", or "WHO exactly are some of you trying to defend?" <-- those are the issues.

Really, why does it matter if we know that? Unite brother. There's no good, nor evil, as these are human constructs, brought to life by human.

Ow wait, you're on the same side as Stalin and Hitler (Tekmosis: check your facts, just for starters on Wikipedia). My statement is as ridiculous as yours. Me having and defending my belief, doesn't make me an osama-sympathizer.

Besides why not let us have our belief? Or let me have at least my belief. Actually you seem to want to get rid of religion, while I (and Dono and Earthbound also I think) want only my own freedom. Hope to get you thinking...... You seem to be doing what you despise most.
And yes, I know, not all religion is as tolerant as others. Nonetheless, that leaves my point, essentially everyone should be able to choose. Pushing your religion to others is as bad as repressing religion in general, it invades the freedom of others.

For the record: I don't think you're anything like Hitler or Stalin, you're probably a nice guy. The only thing is, you create some link between osama and me, so I also made some ridiculous statement. Not meant personally and just to make something clear.

I think religion is selfish. At least that is the way I felt when I was a brain-washed Christian. Ignoring things like evolution (which we all know is true, humans evolved from apes; we were not magically put here by the invisible sky god), ignoring facts and things that contradict your belief simply to feel warm and fuzzy and think Jesus loves you and thinking you will go to magic cloud city with a beer volcano and a stripper factory is just bananas! How about YOU do a little research. It is physically impossible for a human (we all know Jesus was just a man) to walk on water, we all know you don't go to hell when you die when you are 'bad'... c'mon dude, you believe in this.... I feel bad for you....

Actually I don't ignore evolution, used to be a molecular biologist, kind of useless without evolution. ;) I also like the warm and fuzzy stuff, but it doesn't seem to happen to me. :D

But ok, your first line grabbed me, "religion is selfish". And you noticed it already when you were a brain-washed christian (your words :)). How en what did you notice? Kinda interested in your experience.

I'm sorry but you might as well write that in water. Unite? I'll unite with those who have woken up. A good friend of mine I work with left a few days ago to go back home where his best friend was lying in a hospital bed with a gunshot wound to the head. Five days after returning home from Iraq he was in his home town standing in line when he heard screaming and gunshots. Shortly after hearing "allah ackbar" he was shot and thankfully not killed. Of the survivors he is unfortunately in the worst condition. Have you lost a loved one to religion? Religion isn't just about choosing what to believe.

"choosing what to believe" ..ugh like nails on a chalkboard.

I don't care about anyone's beliefs no matter how stupid. Yes I said stupid. Not to mention unfounded.. erroneous even. My problem is how belief and faith in religion inhibits people from making rational decisions and even promotes unreasonable, careless, and violent behavior. If we ever want to see any more progress as a species we have to UNITE and stop this virus.

Christianity is christianity. Read the bible. It is filth. Sure you can pick and choose some socially and personally beneficial instruction from the mountain of violent oppressive bullshit but that is not what God wants you to do now is it? ASSuming the God of the old testament exists he wants you to follow and take to heart every single word. If you are cherry picking passages (love thy neighbor, do unto others, etc) you're merely a caring loving individual who has earned his place in society. You are not a Christian.

Atheists or agnostics sound arrogant, and selfish in this topic. They think they have the monopoly position on truth. Nobody knows truth, so come down from that throne fellas.
And tekmosis, don't mix up facts with beliefs. There's no prove at all, we humans evolved from apes. You must have a strong believe to believe in such a thing (opening a can of worms..).

I also think a lot of you start to sound insulting. I always thought twoism was a friendly open minded forum. I guess I was wrong, unfortunatly.

Every religion is filth. Myself, im agnostic, but my parents are christians. Every religious book is stupid and doesn't make sense, but that doesn't matter. People misunderstand the role of religious books. For some people, who do understand, the bible/the other religious books can be really good guidelines for their live, taking out of it what they think can help them, but the problem is that 90 percent is to fucking stupid to think for him/herself, and just taking everything whats in those books literally, and thats what I cant stand about really religious people. Like a small town near mine, has really religious people, and those people are so short minded, like they cant have tv's in their home because of their religion (what the hell is that about anyway?) but they all have 1, and when the father comes by their house, they hide it, haha what the hell. Not going to doctors that are of different believes, always pretending that they are the most important and pure living beings, but in those little towns the incest rate is the highest in Netherlands. I think religions can be a really beautiful thing, if you dont fucking misinterpretate everything, and being religious has nothing to do with going to the church every sunday, nor does it really is believing in god. I think if people really understood the meaning of being religious, there wouldnt be wars about it, or stupid discussions, people would just understand life itself a little better.

Oh and Earthbound, ur actually throwing in a line of a dutch comedian called Hans Teeuwen. Only he says; That religious people think they have a monopoly on the truth.

Duh, I know that. And that's exactly my point. You atheists and agnostics aren't any better. You do the same thing which religious people are accused from: preaching a theory, with a strong believe in thinking you're right. I hate that, I hate those people. Single minded wankers!

This is some sick shit dude.
You proclaim to know it all, but in truth you're just as ignorant as any other human being. What gives you the right to talk like this? What if a religious person talks about infidel morons, and about stopping the non-believer virus, yeah, then you would be mad as hell, wouldn't you?

I never said religious people are perfect. Those muslim terrorists are just following orders, using a religion to justify their hatred. But really, that has nothing to do with religion.
It's like when I'll kill another religious human being, and say it was written by Darwin to do so, you would say I'm crazy.. You cannot condemn a complete religion just by a single man action. The easy way is to condemn it, yes, but it's not right, and deep down you know it.
