Step Into A Dream is the debut album from Midmir, collaboratively written and produced by Jonathan Jindra (Trills) and Frank Dambra (Arctier, Track53). The respected talents of both artists fuse together to produce a spark flurrying with a sparse palette of colour-changing, genre-morphing tracks.

Newport Riverbed eases us in with bendy synths stretching around deliciously laidback beats and melodies which eventually navigate into wavering atmospheric ambience. Erazi shines through elements of jazz whilst Step22 and Acidto dissolve into wide-open halls soaked in distant house chords and dripping with acid. The journey peaks with Cathode Blue and I Remember Her Handwriting, both epic in scale and build-up, ultimately climaxing in a spirit-lifting experience, leaving an urge to revisit and peel back the inner depths underlying this entire piece.

The great variety of shades and styles provided by each unmistakable artist meld together harmoniously. A sublime listen!

It's rather good isn't it! Certainly my fave release of the year thus far methinks (bias not included!). There's no doubt Jonathan and Frank are exceptional artists on their own merits, but to work together and produce something as solid as this takes some doing. Astounding work guys

Thanks, it helps that we both lived in Houston so we could record together in my room using each others gear. Frank now lives in Brooklyn and we are trying of the fileswapping thing, but we'll probably have to wait until he comes down again until we make anything substantial again.

A few of the tracks are just him, or 99 percent me. So there are some that are more Track53y and some that are more Trillsy but they join well. Track 1 and 2-3 (aerodrome was cut into two tracks for the release) are actually remixes we did of each others preexisting work that we just ended up labeling as Midmir tracks. "Where things become small" is the most collaborative and was the most fun to make in my opinion. I like how that one turned out, its the most 50/50 in my opinion.

It really does help to be in the same space of a person when your working though. You can only share information so quickly over the internet, its much easier to shout an idea across the room than through a myspace message

Excellent release, from two excellent musicians. I wasn't expecting this at all, can't wait to finish the first listen. Newport Riverbed is fucking amazing, and I can't wait to have a good listen to these new tracks too. Very relaxing, and beautiful tunes gents! Whiteout is so damn good.

A really great release, the tracks highlighted already are standouts but "Where things become small" is a wonderful piece in particular, lots of detail and atmosphere and a great build up. Congrats to both of you.

Gnarly. I'm totally down for dismantling common perceptions of Texas, especially Houston. Houston is a very modern and strange, culturally confused metropolis. No one there really knows where the city is headed or where its going culturally. If you catch onto the subtleties when your there, there's a lot of interesting stuff happening that's on the fringe of underground, not yet recognized by the mainstream population. It can be an interesting place to be in that respect.

The city is also very "electronic music", it looks like an electronic music town. If you just drive around on the freeways you see what I mean. Lots of strange, almost dystopian architecture

This is a good album, i've been listening to it for the past few days now.
Got some fine releases here at Retronym , I like this and really dig the 88 Marquis release too.
