DEAR TWOISMERS:
I am at "the creators project". Google it, look it up, whatever. i'm (slightly) drunk, on a shared-use computer on a random table, and not bothered to post the link.
Mira Calix is here. I spoke to her, in my BoC shirt and all, for about 20 minutes before she started her DJ set.
She doesn't think the new album will be out this year.
Her quote : "they're really anal." she doesn't know for sure, but she made a large hand gesture that meant "noooooo" when I mentioned new BoC, and basically rolled her eyes.
it was so cool to have a conversation with someone not just on the same record label as the bros., but who has a) covered a BoC track and b) had a track of hers remixed by BoC (she said something about a "pin skeeling" single from awhile ago? the first remix BoC ever did? i didn't know of it, maybe i heard it wrong.)
mira is so so so nice! it was incredible to meet her.

That's pretty cool that you got to meet her. And ya, BoC remixed a song of hers called Sandsings from the album Pin Skeeling. It's pretty good.

i didn't bug her intensely about new BoC, but in the few sentences we exchanged about the topic, she made it seem like it wasn't done yet.
when she said "they're very anal" she apologized for that phrase not having an american translation. i told her i knew what it meant - and said something to the effect of "yeah, they're perfectionists" and she agreed. so it seemed like it's not just waiting around in red tape - but what the hell this is all speculation. honestly we talked more about the kinds of tracks she was DJing and old-school "bleepy" warp, and not BoC.

I think we can all agree that to freak out or be terribly dissapointed would probably be lame. And I hope that threads about complaining or whatever will just dissolve. There's so much more to talk about and honestly, let BOC be as anal as they want; it's worked for them, and us, so far.

She very well might have done. She is married to Sean Booth so she may take a fair bit of interest in Autechre's press.
