Don't diss the noodly links! Those are sometimes the best tracks.

This in its entirety.

Nice writeup.

Can't we also add all of these snippets to http://bocpages.org/wiki/Idm-l instead?

In some way or another... we should jot down those notes there too...

Moebius, thank you so much for your hard work digging out these bits of info. I would've never had the time or the knowhow to do it myself.

...oh, and MDG, I see what you've done here. Well played 8)

Interesting stuff.

In the context of a live show they may not go over as well as they would if you were chilled out in a comfy room relaxing to the music. Of course, now that boc has a reputation it would work out because people would expect it. Back then though, probably different.

Definitely should have this stuff on the wiki, if anyone wants to take a stab on it, be my guest. In particular, the live shows info could be fleshed out on its own page, and maybe a page for each gig (there's already a few for e.g. [wiki]Warp10[/wiki]).

Thanks all for the kind words, I feel a bit guilty at having sat on this for a while but I always wanted to clean it up a bit and never got around to it...

Part of whats interesting about these is hearing what people describe the music as being "like" when they can't reference BoC's other stuff.

Horse's mooth, honest.

How can these dates have escaped us? Here's the Google Notebook but I haven't been able to find a single thing about any of these shows...

If they did indeed play Ireland then they would have played The Funnel Bar in Dublin and most likely U-Mack productions brought them over. Might be worth getting intouch with them.

Btw: This is really interesting stuff, thanks a mill Moebius!

I think he's suggesting that MDG was hoping that someone would dig up this kind of content when he made this thread so that we had something BoC related to discuss rather than moaning about the lack of new/new material.

Thanks from me too Moebius. Really interesting stuff, had no idea they played so many live shows. It gives me hoe that they might tour again one day!

Moebius wrote:One of the funny/sad/wistful things about digging in the archives is reading about what might have been... like a possible BoC Funkstörung remix, mentioned in an Forcefield interview (the same site that later had one of the earliest BoC interviews):

Funkstörung Forcefield Interview wrote:"After the Freeform EP we will release a Funkstörung-record with remixes by Gescom & Freeform. On the same time we will release a Funkstörung-record on SKAM, with remixes by Jega and possibly Bola or Boards of Canada. Both records are released on exactly the same time. So it’s a kind of double EP. Each record has four tracks, two Funkstörung-tracks and two remixes. It’s important for us to show that the two labels are strongly connected to eachother. Originally we wanted to make a sort of Christmasgreetings-record, but this develloped in these two EP’s."

AFAICT this release never happened, at least not on SKAM; maybe it mutated into something else?

Come to think of it, maybe this became the Michael Fakesch Demon remix? I don't follow Funkstörung so I forgot he was in it...

Makes me so sad that they've given up playing live.

Or have they.....?
