The empty space, which used to be black, is now a grey colour. Any information on the legitimacy of it actually changing?

Yeah it was gray and then once clicked, it turned black and showed a black screen where info of an album would be. I would at least read the first 10 pages in this thread just for shits and giggles. It's fun. Anyways, welcome to the forum!

Don't get me wrong, I am indeed bitching about us not being updated, but I do know they are human and that family and other personal things come first. Just wish we knew something.

I hope that BoC didn't make us cry in anyway when they release something the some day or year :)

Under a different name I post on watmm, and have done for a lot longer than twoism.

I have flown into mild rages (always with a slight sense of humour intact) about the treatment of fans via BOC. Sometimes I admire their attitude, otherdays I despise it.

Coming from a guitar/alternative/thrash/blah blah background where bands cherish and love their fans as much as their fans love them. I find BOC sometimes hard to stomach, as they ought to have some respect for us. I don't see any respect. Nothing.

I understand not getting involved with mainstream media, but even not to bother honouring their hardcore fans with some word of something is just bullshit. And the whole 'mdg has spoken' worshipping is just fucking sad. It's just tiresome.

I presume the whole 'internet is evil' bollocks will be forgotten about when/if something new drops. No internet? No ££££.

I joined twoisim when the black box appeared, since then my brain has started to turn to mush lol. What have you lot been talking about in the last 5 years??

Hmm. I don't know. We could also look at it like this: They are very very fond of their fans and just say and act that/like they don't, because it puts more mystery into their whole self written 'scene'.

Maybe eventually they got tired and sick of an enormous feeling of responsibility, so in their own self protection they decided just to disappear. (Kurt Kobain had that feeling of responsibility and disappeared in a less mysterious way...).

Just a theory. I have absolutely no idea what is up with those dudes.
For the first guess, I strongly hope BoC aren't that vain, and for the second guess, that's more probable, and I'd say that's part of the reason for the silence, along with the brothers moving to separate locations, and most of all having children to worry about.

Out of curiosity,
where did that rumour that one of them moved away (to Japan/new Zealand) even start?
I cant find anything to back it up anywhere.

from interview from wire magazine, ca. the campfire headphase:

""It's not as if these two aren't well travelled. Sandison once lived in London for a couple of years; they've lived in Edinburgh itself and, when they decide to take a break from their recording (and each other) to spend time with their partners, they're off travelling on the other side of the world -- Sandison mentions recent trips to France, Australia and New Zealand (where he's thinking of moving), while Eoin's considering a new life in Hong Kong with his Chinese girlfriend""

Aha! Thanks for finding that. But still, it does only say he was considering it. Still though props on the Chinese girlfriend, all thought I prefer Japanese girls myself.

I believe their Myspace and/or Facebook profiles mentioned their current locations at one time as being in New Zealand

It must be genetic for white guys to be attracted to Asian women, but as one of my sister's friends said, be careful because one day you'll find yourself waking up next to Yoda.

This site seems to be predominantly white.

I discovered Boards of Canada relatively recently, in 2008. Since then I have listened to every BoC track I could find and spent countless hours meditating on their beautiful sounds and analyzing their approach to music composition and production.

Now I am beginning to feel like maybe I am getting over them. It's not that I don't enjoy their music anymore, it's just that the novelty that originally made the records so special and mind-blowing wears off after listening to them so many times. And with no new material, live performances, or any other kind of artistic output, I don't see much reason to even give a shit about them anymore, much less waste time obsessively searching for any news about them.

Does anyone else here feel that way?

I don't like admiting it because there are some people on this forum (at least it seems) that act like anything but worshiping them constantly is horrible, but yes. I've felt that way a little for around a year, and more over the past few months.

Thu Jul 14, 2011 2:53 am

I'm not attached to the point where I'm going to be obsessed with their every move, but I do really love BoC and don't think I'm going to get "over them" or anything like that.

I listened to a lot of Hi Scores before anything else, and I really took a liking to them. Then I listened to Geogaddi. I think it took me to some sort of other world and I never really came back. As the sun rises, I now hear Music is Math echoing through my head, and when it sets, I hear From One Source All Things Depend. Some people don't care for it as much as the other things BoC has done, but for me, it's the most meaningful, surrealistic, emotionally content and relative thing they've ever produced.

That being said, I hope they make another album in a similar style.

Thu Jul 14, 2011 2:58 am

I am still in awe at their music.

They extensively believe that they speak through the music to the listener. It's their huge philosophy. And I hear it.

I rarely if ever listen to BoC these days - my last.fm shows just 18 plays in the past six months. If anything at this point I'm hooked on the anticipation of something new and this ongoing experience of waiting that has turned into a group dialogue among us here.

Thu Jul 14, 2011 3:31 am

I never listen to them any more as I know the songs inside out. The only time I would listen to them is if I'm trying to cover one of their tunes. I still enjoy discussing boc because there is a lot about them that is still interesting. Still i'll be really pumped when they release something, I just cant enjoy them at the moment because I have explored everything they have put out (my own fault).

Thu Jul 14, 2011 7:38 am

I go in and out of BoC listening phases... Maybe twice a year or so I'll go through a period where I start listening to them heavily and then I just listen to everything wayy too much and get sick of it for a while. But I'll always come back to them. They'll never leave my iPod guaranteed. I always find new things in their music when I come back to it that I never noticed before. That's how I know it is serious quality. Like a really complex film you have to watch over and over through multiple different periods in your life to really grasp and understand.

I just went through one of these phases but now I'm out of it again. I definitely am sick of listening for the next couple of months haha..
