I cant find anything to back it up anywhere.

from interview from wire magazine, ca. the campfire headphase:

""It's not as if these two aren't well travelled. Sandison once lived in London for a couple of years; they've lived in Edinburgh itself and, when they decide to take a break from their recording (and each other) to spend time with their partners, they're off travelling on the other side of the world -- Sandison mentions recent trips to France, Australia and New Zealand (where he's thinking of moving), while Eoin's considering a new life in Hong Kong with his Chinese girlfriend""

Aha! Thanks for finding that. But still, it does only say he was considering it. Still though props on the Chinese girlfriend, all thought I prefer Japanese girls myself.

Me too.

It must be genetic for white guys to be attracted to Asian women, but as one of my sister's friends said, be careful because one day you'll find yourself waking up next to Yoda.

And then it spirals into racism. What the hell; listen to yourselves.

I am married to a Japanese girl. Don't call me a racist.

When I'm old as fk I'd rather wake up next to a yoda than a jabba.

Does anyone else here feel that way?

Not yet, I am still discovering new layers and new favorites, but new material would be a really nice addition.

I am not racist at all, how could you think that from our posts?
Any mention of race and someone always has to cry "racism",
its so stupid.

Technically there's only one human race, so it's all up to pedantic distinctions and tools of mob control i.e. religion, personal beliefs, etc.

I'd rather NOT open that can of worms please ;)

Gotta watch what you say in these sensitive, politically correct times.

See that people? A dignified apology. Rare thing on the internet and kudos to you Mr Sheep for offering it. Fair play.

Ok, some of you will probably remember the New Clear Dawn/newcleardawn.com thing. I was the one who discovered it (I bought a list of all domains hosted on the same server as boardsofcanda.com and found a bunch registed by the same person(s)) and it instigated a wave of speculation across various sites related to Boards Of Canada.

So, MDG censured my post almost immediately (as if he was monitoring the board constantly..) and later commented on this by saying, if I recall correctly, that the site belonged to someone affiliated to him or the band. While I was discussing this with a friend tonight it occurred to me that this is unlikely.

First of all, if you're going to use a domain name and site for personal reasons, you're typically not going to register two domains, each with a different top level domain. I also have kashmirboots.com which I use as a file dump among other things but there really isn't any point in registering two domains for personal reasons.

Secondly, both music70/hexagonsun are registered under two different top level domains, namely .com and .co.uk. This makes sense: as a band you want fans to find your site as easily as possible.

Moreover, the newcleardawn site features, among other interesting things, the logo of the Bohemian Club whose initials are the same as the band: BOC.

Conclusion: it makes a lot of sense to me that the newcleardawn site was used as a placeholder of *something* related to Boards Of Canada, possibly or probably a new release. It just doesn't make sense to create a site for personal reasons under two TLD's in the same fashion you've registered two BoC-related websites (music70/hexagonsun) and even add a logo of an organization which initials are the same as that band. It makes much more sense that this indeed was a placeholder for an upcoming release and it also makes a lot of sense that MDG told us otherwise.

Thu Jul 14, 2011 11:37 pm

I suspect that they never thought someone (you) would find the site. When said site was discovered, mdg had to backpedal/cover up to quickly diffuse the situation before it got blown out of proportion; which it ultimately did. I agree with you Guido- it definitely had something to do with the band. It just wasn't time for us to know about it yet. And perhaps that is the real reason for the delay: We found out about their secret before they were ready to reveal, and they had to go back to the drawing board in order to keep the element of surprise intact. Or maybe not. Either way, the whole newcleardawn thing is rather curious, and I think there is (was) much more to it than we were led to believe.

Thu Jul 14, 2011 11:57 pm

!!So it turns out that you Guido are the reason for the delayed album!!
j/k

Very interesting, I didnt know the entire story with that new clear dawn website
so thanks for the info.

I have oftain wondered if mdg is infact one of the brothers acting under an
alias.

Yeah, never seen that website before, but a couple observations.

The NCD logo is the eye in the pyramid, which has a meaning to anyone that's read the Illuminatus! trilogy. One of the pictures is of a glass pyramid, too. Also, the subheading Frontline Net Observation Research and Development spells out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fnord

The Bohemian Club is kind of interesting too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Club A private members club with a semi-secret membership, (also incorporating talented artists and musicians?)

Then again "New Clear Dawn" is the title of a 1977 prog rock album by the band Earthrise... given what we know about the Sandisons growing up listening to, I can't help think it's not a million miles away from possible they swiped the name from there but then it's an easy enough pun to make.

My mind also wants to link this to the "AtalantaFugiens" account that uploaded the Off-the-desk live Julie and Candy somehow, even though I doubt it's related directly. But Atalanta Fugiens was a medieval book of alchemy, if memory serves. Forbidden knowledge and all that, secretive clubs and the illuminati... though these all might be random, unconnected themes, some of which were either nothing to do with BoC or just tangential, its interensting to see what their eyes are drifting over, if that's what it is.
