Probably a new Geogaddi is coming out. With an rarity box. Not like the crappy "7 Skies H3", cause they aren't so stupid.

It's called a moral obligation. If people are wasting a lot of time an energy doing something that you could easily put an end to and make everyone happier in the end, YOU DO IT.

It's like if the world ended and everyone all of a sudden looked to me for guidance. Sure I don't owe them anything, but the right thing to do is NOT to ignore them.

The right thing to do is address them, tell them the state of affairs, and move on from there

It's not like we're here demanding BoC give us a tracklist and samples of their new album. We're not even asking for them to confirm their new album exists for God's sakes

We're just asking that they acknowledge whether they are alive or broken apart

It's just the right thing to do. They don't owe us anything but it's right and proper to acknowledge us since it would take them little to no effort whatsoever

You aren't obligated to help the old lady cross the street you are about to cross yourself, but doing so would take you little to no additional effort and would help somebody else out.

How is this so hard to understand

Also LOL at Fredd-E's pigheaded misconceptions of Alzado's posts. Your retorts are ridiculously illogical, Fredd-E.

Some of me agrees with this.

None of me agrees with this post.

I'm no old lady trying to cross the street. If and when they bring it out, hooray for everyone.

M&M aren't playing along with modern norms, such as actively promoting their band. Even if it costs them record sales, or less exposure, that's THEIR decision. To be able to completely shutout the world in the Internet age...you have to admit, that's impressive. Good for them.

The band has absolutely no obligation to let you know anything. Like I said, they make art for their own satisfaction, having fans is merely a confirmation of the quality of their catalogue.

Essentially, they owe you absolutely nothing.

Also using the scenario of the world ending is hardly comparative, this is art which merely affects you on an enjoyment level, as opposed to a life threatening and moral issue, which affects the entire globe.

Why can't people be happy with what they have, it's inherent human nature to obviously want more of a good thing, but I would like to think as intelligent Boards of Canada fans we have learnt patience, and ultimately acceptance if they are not a band anymore (which clearly isn't the case).

Be pragmatic about this situation. When the time is right, the time will be right and it will be all the sweeter if people learn to be accepting of the bands wishes.

Grow up.

I think this hardline approach that you are taking is what's causing so much confusion in this thread. Alzado asked a really simple question - do we have any reason to believe that Boards of Canada still exists? All people really had to say was yes or no, and possibly give some speculation or any news they might have heard regarding this specific issue.

No one is demanding anything from these guys. Read Zeffolia's post. All he is saying is that it would sure be nice to hear anything from them. Maybe there is a good reason as to why they have maintained their silence for so many years now, but you're flat out lying if you claim you're not curious about their current status. As active members of a forum dedicated to one single band, we're all going to have a genuine interest in them.

A few people were essentially just thinking out loud and expressing the same sentiment that we all share - an update would be nice. Now people are just yelling at each other over stuff that nobody even said. A lot of people seemed to have realized this already, but it looks like there are still a few people getting really heated up over nonexistent statements.

I wish they would release an update so we can all finally shut the fuck up.

Not quite sure how the phrase "grow up" is relevant here

Seems to me that in this context (and most of them, really) it's just an ad hominem attempt to imply that the opposition is acting childish which holds no rational ground

So no, you grow up.

Why don't you just stop reading it? Why should a legitimate thread be locked just because of a few people? Only thing worse than suppressing ideas and opinions is people begging for that kind of censorship.

It's not censorship. It's just redundant. See where the thread's ended up? Same basic premise as the the one that's been around for 200 years^h^h^h^h pages.

Growing up generally means you have learnt to be patient and accepting of what you already have. You aren't even questioning anything BoC related now and are just causing argument for the sake of it. No one has any information besides MDG and it's pretty well established he's a band associate, so unless you still want to believe in conspiracy just shut up and wait like the rest of us. We are waiting too, but we aren't making a massive problem out of it.
