this thread sparked my interest, due to the fact that I'm a HUGE fan of your Boreal Network music...I want to start off by saying that not ever knowing much about you other than being a local artist named Cole, I was a bit surprised after reading this. I wouldn't say the reason being that someone that feels the way you do is incapable of creating art, but when I listen to music, knowing few details of the creator, I unconsciously form an identity of them in my mind. (if that makes any sense)..but then again, only till recently have I changed my outlook on subjects like this, considering my the way I was raised...

I grew up in a very conservative-catholic-Italian household, and not till around the age of 24 did I begin to have an open mind about subjects like this thread. Thanks to my ex-girlfriends nazi-like point of view, I became fed up. Now at 26, I have left the church and REFUSE to be classified on any side of the political or religious structure.

your story simply makes sense in my opinion and I am glad to have read about it because I have honestly never put much thought into subjects about gender and may have thought this was weird, years ago..it really helped solidify parts of my new found view on the world.

I am not the best writer, but I hope this made some sort of sense. I hope things work out well for you.

Brief gender update:

Still on hormones! I am beginning to love my body for the first time in my adult life. I'm getting softer, curvier... my face shape is gradually changing!

My hair is finally long enough to tie back in a sporty ponytail.

This is the happiest I've been about my body since before puberty. I feel like, in a year, people looking at me won't have any idea I wasn't always a woman.

Oh, and also - my body shape continues to change. My hips are rounder, wider. My boobs are getting bigger every day. They're still petite, but they're unmistakable now. I can't hide them no matter what I wear. My face continues to get softer, rounder. My skin is getting more supple, more satiny. My hair of course is getting longer, and I'm playing with it more and more.

I can't believe i didn't realize I was a girl sooner. I'm actually such a girl it's ridiculous I could ever think I was anything else.

I'll be honest, a few years ago, I didn't really understand the purpose of gender reassignment in any way and was completely baffled by it -- but your experiences documented on this and other threads (as well as the fact I was introduced to gender theory stuff at university around the same time) have really helped to open my mind on the whole subject.

So extra congrats for opening my (and probably others') mind(s) and for, as a result, spreading more tolerance and awareness.

aaaaaaaaah phil!! The other day I was wondering what had become of you, I feel like I last saw you online a long time ago. I hope you're doing well!

Transition is..... wow. Almost over. If you can't believe that, imagine how I feel. There's a certain family of things you do when you transition - not everyone does every one of them, because not everyone's interested in the same things. But all the really common ones - legal name change, legal gender designation change, BODY change... are over and done with. The shape of my profile is now so decidedly female that some people already can't believe I was ever anything else.

There's only one thing I have left to do. And I've basically been greenlit for it. The Surgery. I could have it done inside of 6 months from now, if everything went swiftly. My mind reels to consider it. I've met my surgeon, gotten comfortable with her, and been assured that the results I'll be getting from her are going to be spectacular in every aspect - aesthetics AND functionality. All there is left to do is set a date and pay up. Again... the mind reels. But my path is set. I'm sick and tired of having an uncharacteristic bulge in my panties.

Never thought id ever end up in a debate about this , but the whole clothing thing is something ive thought about on occasion.
A lot of clothing is designed to accentuate or draw attention to sexual areas / genitalia , and trousers / jeans , although we are so accustomed to them now , are actually a bit weird and awkward sometimes.
We know from scottish culture and those in the middle east , or even those of samurai culture , that men have worn skirts and dresses for thousands of years , and trousers are relatively new.

I have thought once or twice that mens clothes were limited in range , compared to what women could get away with in an office environment. It was always monday shirt , tie , trousers , tuesday shirt , tie , trousers , wednesday , shirt , tie , trousers etc....and women could wear womens clothes AND jeans and trousers which were supposed to be a staple of the male wardrobe.

In other countries , both men and women wear skirts and its commonplace , and no-one sees it as strange , yet , in the west , everything is polarised and stereotypified , and if anyone or anything stands out or seems different , they are
ostracized and labelled a deviant

No-one thought mel gibson in braveheart was a bit of a pansy because he was wearing a tartan skirt. No-one thought brad pitt in troy looked like a wuss cos he was wearing a skirt ,. Im pretty sure Jesus himself wore a long linen skirt downto the ankles , and that was completely customary in the middle east and still is , yet , if a man walked down the road in a skirt in this country , he would be classed as effeminate or weird.
