Very surreal indeed, nice one for posting.

If you like places with odd aesthetics you may like a place called Dungeness on the south coast of England. It is a really surreal place, I love it there. It is the closest thing we have to a desert in England and there is a huge nuclear powerplant, light houses and some pretty odd looking homes, some look as if they belong out of some texas chainsaw massacre type film. There is also pre world war 2 concrete radars and a nature reserve (becuase the powerplant attracts unique species due heating the surrounding water ways)

Hard to describe, but a lot of BoC's visuals and imagery play on it.

All BBC educational programmes, old cold war installations, and a very unsettling feeling of 1970s otherworldliness, where everything is a bit wrong...

I saw an original copy of Protect and Survive recently and the look and feel of it was fascinating - so matter of fact; it looked like a science textbook from when I was at school, yet it was about surviving a nuclear holocaust. I even liked the font.

Ah, just came here to post this. It really nails the jarring atmosphere of the time, doesn't it? I made a long post about it on Reddit, but being of the age to remember the stuff this site (and yeah Look Around You) were parodying, it gives me the shivers to look at it. It's not just in retrospect either, the stuff it's riffing on was just as goddamn spooky back then, I have no idea why.
