I mean, come on: you're working in a record store and ONE DAY you start stocking a Boards of Canada record on a shelf... there is *no way* you're going to leave that there for customers. Staff would have bought it. In at least one shop, somewhere, a member of staff would have grabbed it up straight away.

^^ this is why I'm not excited

...yet :o

i thought this too, thats where its a risky marketing gimmick but you'd be surprised how many people never heard of them. if theres a few people working there chances are one of them would know about them or just that one person working there had his eyes light up with $$ $$.

Look, the rep made sure that when he brought that fucking record to that shop that it would be stocked with other records on record store day without any interference from employees... or maybe not? Who knows? My honest guess is that the rep went straight to the manager, or maybe even had a convo with the owner or whoever at the store is in charge a few days before and explained to them what was about to go down, maybe not entirely. But I believe he made sure it would be stocked and found by some random customer on record store day. BoC aren't pop music, not everyone knows who they are no matter how incredible we all know they are. I'm sure it was overlooked for a while until this person that made the video found it. Only time will tell, really...

Hell, someone even made the point earlier that it MAY HAVE WELL BEEN an employee at other music that bought the record. Could've been THE VERY SAME guy I spoke with today! That doesn't mean they weren't the ones that posted about it. There are a million different possibilities.

London, but I've been traveling the Americas for around 8-months now. (back to London in August, though).

As aggressive as that seemed, I'm probably the MOST calm about all this. No need to get excited now... lmao

After everything I've been through as a fan, I have every right to get excited If I damn well please. Are you upset that you didn't post about it first? Go straight to hell, 'mate'.

This.

I know past experiences have taught BoC fans to be sceptical, but it's sad that even though all the evidence is now pointing to this being a legitimate release, with the AtalantaFugiens youtube channel, Warp following Other Records in New York and a trustworthy member of this board actually confirming this with the record store, other members of this board still have to spread negative vibes when we should be looking to the positives. No one wants the disappointment of this all being an elaborate hoax, but I think we're beyond the point where it can be classed as such.

You work for a couple of years, save up a bunch of monies, then decide to quit your job and live out of a backpack. Easy. And with a strong currency behind you, like Sterling, or the dollar, your money goes a long way in this part of the world.

Also: there are a gazillion little ways to do things on the cheap. Couch-surfing, etc (that's the only way I could afford the North American stint of my trip).

AtalantaFugiens, the source for that video is based in New Zealand

Mike has lived there and was mentioned in an interview that he was thinking of moving there.
They probably don't live in Scotland anymore at all. Marcus also mentioned about moving to Hong Kong. Living apart could of contributed to this 7 year stretch

Probably best to close it anyway, two speculation threads? Plus this one has turned into pure ass-hat-ery.

edit: People want to attack me, and tell me I need to 'chill out' when I'm calm in the first place and that's fine. But, my only intention here is to keep the bullshit separate from the truth. We don't wanna be led down a stray path again... that is all. The guys that have been here posting the past few years know what I'm talking about. It's no good for our feelers. :(

If it is a hoax, its damn commendable. Serious money and planning has gone into it.

Also sup Snuf! hope your travelling is going well :)

You say you're calm but your writing is coming across with a ton of drama. Good work calling the store but now let's keep things productive. No one will blame you if you decide to take a short break from posting to get it together.

Doesn't matter how it's coming off, your perception isn't my problem. And again, that's my only intention... to keep things productive.

I didn't read everything. Is it already known what the significance of the numbers 936557 is?
