The hardest question... Favourite BoC album?

For me Geogaggi still has secrets to be discovered after all these years, MHTRTC less so. It's so close but i have to say Geogaddi.

I've said Geogaddi, but I'm thinking TCHeadphase will be the soundtrack to this summer. It's the kind of album that needs to be appreciated outdoors on a sunny day.

Yeah I'm going to go TCH too, but in all honesty they are all favourites. The funny thing is, for years I never got the 'Music...' hype, I just did not understand what people thought was so special. I mean, I liked it but I thought TCH blew it away. Then I just realised I loved MHTRTC, it's such a beautiful record, yet also quite impersonal at times (to me, anyway).

its hard to describe the effects emotionally that i feel when i hear songs like. a moment of clarity, ataronchronon, and sherbert head.



these songs are only brief tracks on the album. but the tones and sounds that i hear put me into such a deep melancholy that it hurts. a certain element in BOC's music gives the feeling of heartbreak.

For me that is, as they have said before in interviews, us longing for the child we once were for just a brief moment of our lives.

very well said. that's how i feel. i've listened to it so much and yet it never loses it's magic. see MHTRTC i've always loved but in the last two years I've really realized 'why' that album is as loved as it is. geogaddi is dope as its own album but it has a very different purpose from mhtrtc and tch. I think if The Campfire Headphase had not been released, I wouldn't think of BoC with as much 'cool'/'freshness' as I think of them with. That album sealed the deal on their status as one of the best bands of all time and to this day it sounds extremely 'modern', if you know what I mean.

It changes depending on what kind of music I'm in the mood for, but lately I've been listening to Geogaddi a lot, so I voted for Geogaddi. Campfire Headphase is pretty much my summer jam, so I'm sure I'll listen to it as it gets warmer, then abandon it when the new album comes out

Geogaddi is an excellent record, but The Campfire Headphase really catches my attention. I think the thing I like most about The Campfire Headphase is the perfect blend it had of both texture and melody. Geogaddi would be considered as "my favorite BoC" album because of what it is as a whole, but if I had to choose between first listen, it would be The Campfire Headphase. Geogaddi takes much more thought and close listening. I appreciate that album on a completely different scale.

So yeah, I chose The Campfire Headphase.

Like a lot of people, I'm a bit torn between MHTRTC and Geogaddi. The first time I listened to Music... I wasn't necessarily sold on BoC, or really blown away by any means. At the time, I was still very new to electronic music, so there was still a bit of an appreciation issue on my part at that point. I'd say Geogaddi is what got me into them, considering that the first time I listened to it was unlike any other experience with an album. After listening to that album, I definitely had a better feel for who these guys are as musicians. I had listened to MHTRTC for some time before checking out Geogaddi, and was blown away at how similar it was to MHTRTC, all the while giving off a completely different vibe.

This makes me think it could have gone the other way, so it's hard for me to say. They are both some of my favorite albums ever, which is a hard title for me to give a piece of music. In where I'm at right now, I'd say Geogaddi is a better album but MHTRTC is my favorite.

Dawn Chorus is truly a superb track; easily the best on Geogaddi and one of their best overall.

I still have to go with Music Has the Right, simply because Geogaddi just kinda fumbles around. There is too few actual standout tracks. The best part about Geogaddi was all the cryptic references in the tunes, and the overall haunting atmosphere I thought.

But outside Julie and Candy, Dawn Chorus, Music is Math and the sub-two minute vignettes the tracks just do not really go anywhere for me personally.
