I think this midwest gas station is a bit off-track for the following reason: every other clue so far has involved an audio clip code. Why would they suddenly switch to signs on a pole? It doesn't make sense. I think we're just getting impatient.

The third time i'm asking because i'm very curious--why exactly does a number badge on a power pole have any bearing on this code at all? Those are literally on most power poles in the country as linemen reference marks. Google image search "utility pole number tag", and you will see thousands upon thousands of them.
