Yea, thank you! Part of the reason I love BoC compared to others of the same "genre", is that it actually sounds like music. That's one of the reasons I *hate* Autechre.

Autechre are not for everyone, abstract art is not for everyone either. I would call Autechre sound art not necessarily music, brilliant forms squelching out of the darkness, savage cuts and lines of neon and blue.
A clearance in a wooded area, you startle a deer, it runs into the pines. Vast turquoise lakes and icy rivers, crisp mountain air. A bald eagle soars above. The distant sound of a chainsaw. Redwood smoke

Weird innit? Musical taste that is. I can't abide most of Autechre either, and man how I've tried. After about 20 minutes I'm literally tearing my headphones off. Does my head in. But if I'm not careful, I'll be agreeing with Helios on something and that's not allowed  (just kidding Helios).

We've had this conversation before, but it just shows how BOC neatly sits across several genres. Some of us come from a guitar background, others from electronica, but we all 'get' BOC.

Go figure.

I see where you're coming from but it's still 'music'.

I don't really care what people like or dislike, but you have an extremely unconventional or archaic definition for music if Autechre doesn't fit it. And Autechre is pretty damn ordinary too.

I was meaning that in the sense that Helios said BOC actually sound like music. I understand music is sound arranged and yes Autechre arrange sound, I guess when I think of Autechre I think of Graffiti as they have progressed their characters have become more and more abstract. it probably does not make sense but meh...

and stars of the lid. And as long as we're arguing about what is and isn't music I'll just say I love Merzbow too. But I don't really think any of them have that much in common with BoC except that I'd say they all seem to have a sculptural take on sound, some more than others (BoC is probably the most 'conventional' of that lot, they can be very melodoc). I consider it all music though, but on the other hand if it's not music, it doesn't change the fact I enjoy it.

And I'll add, I wouldn't freak out if Tomorrow's Harvest was a noise or drone album, I just have no reason to expect that it might be. It never really crossed my mind that the whole album would sound like the cosecha video, but I can't say it wouldn't interest me if it did.

I remember this when I used to be open to listening to Autechre. That was one of the very few tracks that I could stand.

Yes and yes.

id be pretty surprised if it was an all noise or drone album

with that said, i have a strong feeling this record will sound nothing like any of their previous albums.

im sure it will still have that classic boc sound to it. but in an entirely new direction. i simply cant imagine them venturing back to old territory with this new record, i see it being a complete departure from their past work.

I didn't mean to be so controversial, I'll admit it was a poor choice of words. This is basically what I meant. It's not my place to define what is and isn't music, much like what is and isn't 'art'. But Autechre just doesn't strike any of the right chords with me, often times being unbearable.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand - has it been confirmed by anyone that they are indeed playing a song from TH on Monday? Someone in this thread said it was removed from that guy's facebook page.

It seems every time i write something on this forum i piss someone off. I don't mean to I just enjoy talking about music.I don't really have anyone I can talk too in my general life about Autechre or Boards of Canada. I am sorry if my imagination got the better of me and I did not use correct terminology.

To be honest I could enjoy listening to a rusty wheel with water dripping, if this makes my opinions invalid then so be it.
