i love boards of canadas music but they don't release enough music

IMITATE???????????

LEARN AND BE INFLUENCED!!!!!!!!!

study them and make music just like them if you want, i do!

look up robin trower and jimi hendrix.. children
autechre can be just as much boards of canada if they want but they don't imitate.
i could say they listen to them and when they do influence lies in their musicianship

everybody calm down and wait til the 10th or the 11th be fortunate if you get to listen monday

This is a real simplification, but...

Recent Autechre: often quite obtuse and difficult for me to enjoy

Early Autechre: comparatively minimal but very strong; some excellent tracks & melodies

But it's not really possible to compare Autechre and BOC to each other or others besides - they are respectively quite unique.

i'm sorry but i gotta agree with the autechre lovers.

boc and ae share very similar destinies and have undoubtedly influenced each other's, mutually and directly. didn't ae put boc on the map/first discover them? where did i read this? fredd-e back me up here...

and listen to this track for example (if you will pardon the audiosurfing)...

near the halfway mark and on to the end... tell me those melodies don't invoke feelings as poignant as those you've felt from boc, no? i think so.

Everything from Incunabula and Amber is pretty perfect to me. I do find myself not listening to quite a few of their tracks sadly... Some just don't really sit right but i mean none the less i love the world they've created for themselves.

one of my personal favorites. Its all about 2:05

First I'd like to say I love Autechre as much as Boards of Canada. Perhaps even a bit more if my Last.FM account is anything to go by.

Thing with Autechre is they have been rather diverse in their output throughout the years.

Some of my favourites:

I can't see why one could possibly hate them all, especially not if you're fond of IDM.

Woah you're an Isan fan too!!. Love their work!

Don't let this thread turn into an Autechre vs Boards of Canada debate.

If you want to convince a fellow BoC fan to enjoy Ae, then please continue here.

Well tomorrow is Monday. I am speculating that since the post that a new single will be showcased on BBC radio Scotland got taken down means there wont be one. On the other hand i have hope.

I still hope it's just a case of him speaking a bit too soon about it. That he kinda ruined the surprise effect, but that it might still come tomorrow night. We can only hope?!

Just two syllables: immense? He didn't say more than that? Isn't your friend a writer?

He is indeed a writer, a very good one at that. So for him just to say immense makes me want to expode with excitement!

He writes for a few different music magazines and always gets these exclusives, lucky lucky sod! Anyways, he said that the album is immense and Cold Earth is the stand out track from it. He even got given the whole back catalogue on cd and Bibio's too. I can't wait for this now!

hey i remember when you tried to troll us last time, whats up bruh bruh

I've never been on this site before man. No trolling either, once the album is out i can give you my friends name and magazines he writes for :)

did a troll just say they weren't trolling and somehow still managed to be a troll?

Speculations are that you are trolling. You might not be but a troll will never tell you the truth of their mischiefs.
you don't care to hear until you listen

Surely if i was trolling i would have come up with something better than my friend who works for a couple of music mags listened to the album at Warp and thought it was immense. People who usually work for well known music magazines do tend to get invited to listen to albums before their releases funnily enough. Can't wait for it's release now!

I'm a believer. I just wonder how exactly we should interpret 'immense'. To me it sounds like it could be like a massive wall of sound, perhaps a bit like 747. Something to be heard with high volume. Something that blows you away. That would be immense.

Excited!

Agreed. I don't think this guys is trolling. A journo listening meeting at Warp sounds like the kind of thing that should be happening about now and it would sound weird if it wasn't happening to be honest.
