noooooooooo!

i happened to come across the news about the new track just now whilst browsing for some album artwork for a jesus lizard album. now i don't know wtf to do! i am so desperate to hear this track and watch the video, but i don't want to spoil the album by listening to the single lots of times. i hate how it can kill a track on an album. i want the whole album to be new when i hear it. i see bleep have given me the mp3 with my album pre-order as well......so it's sitting there right now.....ready to be downloaded.

maybe just one listen...yeah, i'll just watch the video.....then thats it...no more....

Huh? RFTD is like XYZ just like Dayvan Cowboy is like Kiss' God of Thunder

;)

I said the same thing. reminiscent. Not a rework or anything, mind you, but reminiscent for sure.

It really is! Just going back over XYZ and the similarities are most deffo. there, in the length of the tracks and the dynamic of the song. Reach for the Dead is almost the same idea but much tighter and neater.

Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth...a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going.

XYZ is def. in my top 25 but this seems a little plain compared to it. The melody for the second half is kind of uninspiring. Then again, it is growing on me with every listen. I guess I expect a little more to chew on in a BOC song.

I'm going to go there and listen to Geogaddi until I transcend.

I agree. While I really enjoy the track, the melody seems a bit off to me. It's borderline amateur, and sounds almost trance-y. I expected a more bizarre sound. Great track, still. Am I alone here?

This song reminds me a lot of Alan Howarth - and that's a good thing.

I showed the video to my 4-year-old son this evening.

He said..

"What happened? Everything's broken. Must be the old world."

His reaction to the whole video was very creepy and probably spot-on for what they are aiming for.

The track itself seems a bit odd to me, like it's too isolated. I know others have said the same thing. What's on either side of the track is almost more intriguing than what we've now heard. If this is what they've picked to be a standalone track for the album then I can only guess that the rest of the album is almost one big flowing concept. There's nothing that really stands out as a lone track judging by the titles.

Still love it. It feels like part of a greater whole.

The droning synths at the beginning and end of the track are what really interest me...hopefully that's a texture that they focus on more in other tracks, because it sounds really nice.

The three suns are a possible reference to Trinity Site--and there are ghostly figures and faces all over the video. The roads terminating resemble hands in prayer. Are the roses something remembered?

Yeah- the perfect track for teasing imo- doesn't give anything away, yet confirms the quality of it and just makes you want to hear it all in the proper order. It's perfect in that regard and couldn't have stirred my interest and excitement any better.

I've seen a couple people say this here and elsewhere. I don't agree with the amateurish sounding though, I think there are a lot of intricacies here that I didn't notice at first listen. It isn't one of their "weirder" tracks, but that doesn't bother me in any way.

I am also thinking about some songs on geogaddi and wondering what I'd think about them if I heard them as stand alone tracks without hearing the album, and I imagine they would sound a bit off to me too, even though they're amazing in context. I think this song holds up pretty well on it's own though.

I can see where you might hear some trance though, but hey, a little trance never hurt anyone*

*actually I'm not sure about this, it seems entirely possible that trance has been involved in some way in causing bodily harm to someone
All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

If anything the song I think is most reminiscent of RFTD is Corsair.

Yeah sort of a macho build up with not too much release. This track got me pumped to listen to Skyliner. Sounds like they are carrying on with that energetic kind of open sound ala TCH EP. Cool. The arpeggio does come across as a bit prosaic. I wonder if they could have used something else to create momentum.
All the textures are great. Theres this nice kind of silver crying/ringing going on faintly. Beautiful moment at 3:54.

As The Other said this sounds like a great catapult into the albums narrative.
