Assuming it's 320 kbps MP3, which is now floating around the usual download sites, I doubt it sounds that much different from 256 kbps AAC, which iTune sells. I'm not audiophile, but I cannot hear a difference between the two, and MP3 has the advantage of being more easily playable.

yeah but its still a transcode.

This is still miles better than the 320k from Youtube, but why not preserve its original quality?

I would like to make mp3s from when I get the FLAC, or the CD.

But aac to mp3 is a xerox of a xerox.

Righto - that's the good folk at my local indie shop putting a ltd CD aside for me :)

Missed the stream last night - I think I'll just do a Likely Lads now and avoid hearing anything 'til Monday...

If your source is the iTunes than you have to reencode the files.
Your account ID is hard coded to the file (not as an ID3 tag).
Other solution is to remove it w/ a hex editor. For many, reencoding is easier.

iTunes music scrubber gets er done really easily.

Plus iTunes mp3 encoder isn't as good as LAME encoder. That should be taken into consideration.

In listening to the rip of the stream, I'm hearing a quick electronic pitter-patter between a lot of the tracks. Is that part of the actual album or just artifacts from the stream?

I think it's a stream artifact. I'm listening to a 320 kbps rip and not hearing any of that, although a few of the songs do lead directly into another w/o a break, so it could be that you're hearing.

That's what is so weird because I'm listening to a 320kb rip myself! I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I got what I believe was one of the first 320 rips available, before the JPN release, so I'm thinking it could just be an upscaled stream rip, if that makes any sense. Of course, I'm going to replace what I have with the iTunes version next week, just so I know I have something "official."

That said, I still don't hear the artifacts you are referring to, stream or no stream, but I haven't been specifically listening for them.

So I couldn't wait and I took a walk last night and listened to the album. Here's my 2 cents....

The entire album, for me, has a wandering vibe. Like wandering on a sunny day through a post apocalyptic environment.

Musically, It reminded me of the atmosphere and ambiance of "Seven Forty Seven" and "Skyliner", with rhythm and drum sounds similar to MHTRTC, effects/vocal samps of Geogaddi, synth lines reminiscent of Random 35, and all at the pace of TCH. Totally new and different while maintaining their distinct sound. Not a lot of that quintessential BoC "decay" but really cool, and mellow.

My favorite tracks are:

Cold Earth:
This is where the album really takes off for me. Great beat and flow, light and dark at the same time. Excellent.

Palace Posy:
It just blows my mind, with the second half of the song almost reminding me of a refined and more original example of the idea and direction they displayed on Nine-Rubber Wisdom for Old Tunes Vol. 2, yet completely different. (if that makes any sense.)

Nothing Is Real:
Very chill and nostalgic for me.

New Seeds:
Just beautiful. The melody that it progresses into is so heart warming.

Come To Dust:
Hit me right in the center of the soul. Tears starting to form, but not dropping.

Semena Mertvykh:
Obviously the darkest track on the album. Such a great closer. And so..... land of the lost, in a sense. Lonely. Like in a dream.

Overall, I love it. I always go into any new album with no expectations and arms wide open. This album is going to grow on us. I believe the brother's designed it that way. New Seeds for these Sick Times.

Due to having to attend my mother-in-law's funeral tomorrow, I will be picking up my hard copy of TH in the morning. It somehow seems innapropriate, yet due to my beliefs, my wonderful おかあさん and the love she showed me, I will be listening to this album in memory of her. Her grandchildren are Tomorrow's Harvest. (I'm sorry to be such a downer. I won't be listening until after the funeral). Life comes from death, and the world keeps turning.
