yeah, but I wouldn't read too much into that really, they also said similar things in the past, it just means that they also jam and rehearse, not just compose. Personally I am not holding my breath.

I also noticed that they said

We have a main studio that is literally on a farm surrounded by deer and rabbits.

Main studio, so they have several, possibly each brother has a home studio or some such and they have this common place, I find that kind of reassuring because it gives them space to work on stuff while handling family matters and then have this main space to continue creating together.

I gotta humbly disagree with ya. To quote the brilliant, Robert Anton Wilson...

seeami wrote:haha i have a suspicion this album is targeted at me. It's the most well-constructed new album I've heard by anyone in a long time, the official uk release date is june 10, my birthday, and they stated that they recorded some of the album in new zealand, which is where i live. i had no clue boc were in new zealand and they have been my fav group for years and years so i had to re-read that sentence when they mentioned nz.

the album's already out here on vinyl and cd in stores which really really fkn pisses me off as i preordered the vinyl from bleep the morning it was announced (preordered it on my ipod from my bed in a hostel in tokyo)
at least i legally own the mp3s from preordering and it definitely beats all the other new releases i've heard this year that i've considered great (mbv, exai, silver wilkinson...)
can't wait for my vinyl copy to get here!!! also if they end up reissuing geogaddi and mhtrtc on vinyl i will buy them too.

my birthday on the 10th too!

That main studio is Hexagon Sun, right?

haha, yes! i'm with you Impossible Geometry. R.A.W is a wild author. it's the almost obsessive rating of albums that admittedly bothers me... "this is = to this is > this is" . it's not about disagreeing with an opinion.

need to read that Lanier book. I've heard him talk before and he is also a musician. music begins around 2:00:

And finally ... will there be live shows taking place around the record? Do Boards Of Canada still exist as a live entity?

For some reason, my first reading of that interview cut off after the science and rationality and religion and ideas of mysticism part. I only just now saw their book recommendations and teasing the possibility of BOC performing live.

But yeah...

I actually feel slightly worried and a bit stressed. What if the tickets sell out before I buy any? What if they only play abroad far away and I cannot afford to go? What if they play a surprise secret show and im not there.

Damn! I want to reserve my place at this gig that may not 100% happen right now please.

This live thing is a bad idea imho.
Too many disappointed fans, high ticket prices (those who pay more than 5k for a vinyl will pay more for some leftover tickets...). And I know that I won't have a chance to see them.

Or at least I hope they will play at Tristan da Cunha or somewhere really far away.

Why deprive others of the chance to see their favorite band live though? Kind of silly. As my dad used to say to me sometimes, when something didnt work out in my favor, "tough shit, kid."

Anything they want to do, I'm onboard with. Maybe they can play a couple shows and then do an online live webstream sort of thing where everyone pays $10 or $15 to tune in, for those that are unable to make it to see them live.

If anything, we know their live shows have been outlets for them in the past to play otherwise unreleased material, so more of that can't be a bad thing!

It could never be a bad thing unless it's some stupidly over-subscribed near-private gig. Maybe I'm just optimistic as I was lucky enough to get Kraftwerk Tate Modern tickets stupidly easily for the night I wanted.

You'd hope if they were going to play it'd be a short residency somewhere where every genuine fan would stand a good chance of getting in.
Oh, no! Not the bees! Not the bees! Aaaaahhhhh! Oh, they're in my eyes! My eyes! Aaaahhhhh! Aaaaagghhh!

Wow, that's not brilliant at all; it smacks of pettiness. This really isn't difficult.

So then, how about, as it IS, at this present moment in my life, not ruling out any alterations to my perception of TCH further in life, the album IS boring. MHTRTC>Geogaddi>TCH - some are clearly better than others, in my humble opinion.

Well, it makes sense in philosophical terms. But I agree with you: a moderately literate person can tell that when such an article calls an album "disappointing", it's mere opinion. Some things just don't need to be restated all the time.

THIS!

If anyone that has the sway to make sure sure that lifelong fans are assured a shot at tickets IF live gigs were to happen, please please do so. PMs with secret pre-sale info sent to users here on Twoism perhaps?? Hmmmmmm?

I would think several gigs in major cities in both the UK & US would be ideal. Fairly certain most of us would drive or if necessary fly to a gig if it were close enough? By the way, Los Angeles is rabid for a gig. :D
