maybe Lake Dolores was a scouting location test for the real deal ...
while i would never rule it out, based on the past the likelihood of a world tour isn't too likely.

i prefer even a just few dates for the lucky few who can make it to wherever that might be, but i think the most equitable solution would be a live streamed event of BOC perhaps playing for an intimate gathering of old friends and family (or however they like to frame it), so the whole world gets to be part at one time, no one is excluded, you have no excuse if you miss.

pay per view it or whatever - i'd sign up today.
just a thought.

Either way, I'm sure they will do cryptic transmissions to announce the shows.

"For example, there's a sound in Cold Earth that is something like only one second of audio. It comes from an obscure old effect unit that cost us a lot of time and road miles to source, and it ended up being one second of audio on the record."

He has to be referring to 1:24. That second of sound is the best part of the entire song! Ok, maybe he doesn't have to be, but that second is still insanely good.

"That last track has a deliberate feeling of complete futility that I find kind of funny. "

Twisted mofo. Love it.

Wow, that's not brilliant at all; it smacks of pettiness. This really isn't difficult.

So then, how about, as it IS, at this present moment in my life, not ruling out any alterations to my perception of TCH further in life, the album IS boring. MHTRTC>Geogaddi>TCH - some are clearly better than others, in my humble opinion.

i'm being a dick for taking this further but nah... when someone phrases something as "2005's disappointing Campfire Headphase* there isn't an implication of *in their opinion they were disappointed by the album* there is an implication of *upon the release of this album disappointment was ubiquitous*.

i'm talking in circles here but there are literally hundreds of posts on twoism.org sticking albums into things like this < > > = > > and its crazy to do with a band like this. that's all i was trying to hint at with my long post. i truly think its better and more interesting when people having contrasting views of the records but its lame to speak of one specific record as the "flawed one" or the "clearly disappointing one of the bunch".

but that's just like........ my opinion man.

1,17,2,16,3,15,4,14,5,13,6,12,7,11,8,10,9

It actually flows really well....absurdedly well IMO but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Not that there is anything wrong with the original track order at all but some of the transitions are a bit jarring and in my order it's not at all the case

Like I said though I'm not implying these tracks are paired up to their sister tracks but its interesting to say the least.

ahhhhaaa, I see what you're up to Mr. Fibonacci ;) this is one of the handful of groups where this would make sense to give a try

im not smart enough to put the songs in order of the fibonacci sequence lol

all i did was pair them off based off the comment in the guardian interview where come to dust is referred to as a reprise of RFTD

it works out well though

Me neither, lol

I thought that was the same way The Holy Gift is laid out, but they start it at the middle of the album

Has anyone tried reading the interview backwards to see if there are any secret clues or hidden messages in it? I would try, but I can't read :(

You don't have to read it backwards. They blantantly said San Francisco is a ghost of a city.

Oh man! Been avoiding all the BoC and TH related stuff on here since the live stream but just stumbled across this interview. Fuck! The two things that really got me excited are:

"There's actually more use of subliminals on this record than on any previous album"

and

"We've been busy in our rehearsal space lately, so never say never."

!

Came here to post this quote. Definitely my favorite part of the interview. This is why I care so much about their music. I like to think that if I was a career musician, I would put similar effort into my music / gear.

And if I were to guess, that sound occurs at 01:54 in the track. Thoughts anyone?

Maybe.

It just so happens that my favorite sound in the entire album is as at 1:23-4 and only ever occurs that once. I've been meaning to post on here asking if anyone more knowledgeable than I knew of a place in the discography where that occurs - thinking that the uncanny familiarity of the sound meant I'd heard it before in one of their tracks. In my imagination, I pretended it was the sound of Scrooge McDuck's (or some such cartoon character's) eyes turning to dollar signs. "ka-CHING". I can't hear it enough. I hope its the sound he's talking about. It was so damn mind blowingly cool to read that in the interview. Uncannily awesome.

foxymrcroup wrote:It's one of those two, I'm sure. (although maybe the little 'whoosh' sound at 1:03) I *love* the various sounds and effects through Cold Earth. Particularly the treatment of the counting voice, which reminds me a lot of the samples used in early Skinny Puppy tracks (which were often taken from horror/sci-fi movies, I believe, fitting the whole 'video nasty' ethos the brothers mention in the interview)...

The counting voice does indeed kick ass. Cold earth is turning into one of my more repeated listens thanks to its oddities.

Impossible Geometry wrote:Also, that sound they are talking about in Cold Earth HAS to be the metallic sound at 1:24, that sound blew me away in headphones, ive became quite obsessed with that segment for the short time I've had the album. It just sets up the next bar of music so perfectly, its sooooo sick. I would replay that part just to hear that fucking sound again, and I did.. alot. haha

Yep. I've played those 5 or so seconds over, and over, and over. So sublime.

Agreed! Insanely great. Now i extra want to know what the sound is.

THIS!

If anyone that has the sway to make sure sure that lifelong fans are assured a shot at tickets IF live gigs were to happen, please please do so. PMs with secret pre-sale info sent to users here on Twoism perhaps?? Hmmmmmm?

I would think several gigs in major cities in both the UK & US would be ideal. Fairly certain most of us would drive or if necessary fly to a gig if it were close enough? By the way, Los Angeles is rabid for a gig. :D

Sorry but if they come to California the gig will be at the alameda naval base

No dice! Live events have tried and failed to use this space. Definitely going with LA, or surrounding deserts.
