I don't know enough about your situation to recommend a turntable for you. Are you looking for something that you can do the wikki-wikki-wikki on? I know next to nothing about DJ turntables. But I do know that the occasional crazy deal can be found at flea markets and Goodwill/thrift store type places on late 70's style Hi-Fi casual listening turntables. All they usually need is a decent replacement cart, but you'll need a good pre for those.

Look for brands like Dual, Onkyo, Marantz- and don't spend more than 30$-50$ on a used one, and that's a high ceiling. If you've got coin to burn, check out something by Rega, MusicHall or Pro-ject.

One of the great aspects of Tomorrow's Harvest, as evidenced by the concept, the links between the tracks, the care taken over the art, is that first and foremost it's an album - a single piece of work to be appreciated as such - which seems to be an increasingly rare occurrence these days.

The track Seven Forty Seven by Boards on the Warp20 LP would fit this album perfectly

Why o why didn't listen to this on my surround sound system straight away!!!!!

I've noticed alot more going on in the background (one bit especially on Cold Earth, but then I realised my baby daughter had un-muted the TV and it was just a kids program!)

A very strange experience indeed with this album. I really didn't like it the first time around (apart from Cold Earth) and now I'm on about my 15th listen and when it ends I keep going back to the start and playing it again. Feels like its doing something to me. Its very compelling. Almost like a good book. Like some kind of addictive drug perhaps.

Is anyone else experiencing this? It didn't happen to me with any of their other albums even though I currently rate TH joint third with TCH in my personal preference.

On a side note, it seems like Earbuds have been giving me a better listening experience than over the ear headphones also. Feels like they can pick out a lot of the minute details.

From what they've said in the interviews from this record, it most likely was part of the sessions/years they spent working on TH..at least, I wouldn't be surprised to find that it once was. It has the same tone as a lot of tracks on the album (very deep and ethereal) but they probably chose it for Warp20 because it was a throwback to two older tracks, and a shout-out to us fans in a way. :)

Back on topic though..I STILL CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF TOMORROW'S HARVEST. Yes, I still am waiting on my vinyl. But in the meantime, I've listened to it front to back about 25 times or more, and then in random track orders via shuffle. Every time I listen to it (perhaps cos sometimes it's on headphones, sometimes on speakers) I hear new sounds..it's like a massive easter egg hunt (or peeling back layers of the onion..lol), and I don't even care if there's a prize. Beautiful music is more than adequate. :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks there is a strange, addictive quality to the album. Like you, I find that when I reach the end I really want to start the album again.

I wonder if this is partly due to the ending of the album, Semena Mertvykh, being very dark and imho, scary/full of despair. By returning to the beginning again, you are resetting the story and escaping that dark feeling (although I find Gemini just as bleak! :D). Perhaps if the album ended on Come To Dust, I wouldn't feel so compelled to restart the album again.

I'd also add that when I haven't listened to the album for a while (say, 10-20 hours!) I feel compelled to listen to it again. Strangely, I've not had this feeling with other BoC albums, despite loving them.

This is turning out to be my favourite album of theirs - it flows just beautifully from beginning to end

There are probably better tracks on other albums but as an overall document it's unmatched and the sound design is breathtaking

the bass sound is great, used sparingly for major impact when needed. very much a real bass sound and live drums, on RFTD, Cold Earth, Come to Dust etc. i thought i was tired of RFTD but it has such power everytime.

the bass is awesome on this album.

and that is such a good insight... I never even thought about that... Seven Forty Seven. cool to think of it as a shout out. that would be the perfect question to ask in an interview.

how is Seven Forty Seven a throwback to two older tracks?

I listened to the TH CD really in my car with its crummy stock stereo, and it sounded great! All the subtlety was lost - couldn't hear the helicopter in WC for example. But turning it up and feeling the whole car vibrate to the music - amazing.

I've been listening to the album several times a day, pretty much every day since the live stream two weeks ago. I've been fearing that I was going to burn myself out and get tired of it - but that hasn't happened at all yet.

I love how the album changes so much as it progresses... so many different styles and tones.

And listening loud in the car, the tribal madness and abandon of the first part of Palace Posy really struck me. Really powerful.

I've now had a chance to listen over and over to TH. I have to say it did not grab me at first listen. But I am now finding it to be a really great album, with an inventive and slightly different side to the BOC aesthetic.
“The most exquisite paradox… as soon as you give it all up, you can have it all. As long as you want power, you can't have it. The minute you don't want power, you'll have more than you ever dreamed possible.”

Side note: Although it got here late too like my Bleep order, the guy at Norman Records was fantastic to work with--a real star compared to the Bleep support. I cancelled my order right away because I didn't know it was the same as the Bleep copy (art card fiasco). He refunded my money, but still shipped it out by accident, but let me keep it since it would be too expensive to post back. That kind of service it unheard of these days, and since I already have 3 other copies of this album, I'd like to pay it forward, and donate one to someone in need. Please, no one who already has a physical copy.

PM me. Tell me an interesting story
