This is weird, despite being an avid listening for BoC a long time now, and having everything they've ever produced (well apparently not), I was somehow unaware of 'Play by Numbers' existence, until now.

How has it managed to evade my attention this long? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I might find a high quality download?

Thanks :)

There is no download for this, Closes or any of the early rarities. If you have them they're fakes.

This sample of Wouldn't You Like to be Free is widely believed to be legit, but that's it

This'll probably be the closest thing that you will ever hear OP.
If you want a download of this sample, I'll provide one.

Holy fuck if it is real. That sounds amazing even over youtoobs shitty quality. I would kill someone just to hear that album.

* prepares to write 25 page essay on the possible authenticity of tape rips based on teeny weeny flaws in track transitions, ignoring the fact that said rips are simply songs by múm and My Bloody Valentine played simultaneously

As my grandmother used to say, Oh go and take a run and jump for yourself.

I've refrained from saying it how I wanted.

Hey
Yesterday I received a really decent fake of Numerator, but it is obvious for like 5 or 6 reason that it is a fake, just an edit of b04. (or maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't buy it. I'd need to hear wouldnt you like to be free.) It did get me googling, though, and I noticed there are two versions of the cover art, one with heavy type and one with book type:
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch& ... &oq=&gs_l=
http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=15284 cassette
http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=15285 cd
so I have two questions:
has anyone ever seen these in higher quality than above before? 600x600 for example.
does anyone know the origin of the two different scans of the art - were they BOTH on the crofter's music70 site?

The "book type" is presumably original, the "heavy type" is likely a sharpened, "burned" image in which the font appears larger. The one I posted is the highest quality available, despite pixels.
