Was just listening to some classics on the bus on my way home today and was listening to the intro to "Tahr" by The Black Dog. The snare bit and rhythm reminded me right away of Jacquard Causeway. Maybe i'm crazy, but its fun how the mind likes to make connections.

This is one of (if not my absolute) favorite song of the album. I'm not the biggest fan of its counterparts in other albums (like Roygbiv MhtRtC or Basefree in Twoism), but this song is just so good.
I love how I at first I thought the time signature was 4/4, but that I later changed my mind to believing it was in 3/4. And I couldn't understand how I could ever have thought it was ever in 4/4. Then I heard 4/4 and couldn't hear 3/4 again.
After listening to it I now realize it is both in 3/4 and 4/4 at different times in the song, and that in the later half it's actually both simultaneously, depending on which melodies and drums you listen to.
When a song makes you question your memories (and sanity), you know that it's affecting you. Amazing.

If you listen closely, there's a hiss at the beginning of the track, at first I was thinking that this is some kind of mastering element of the track, but at the end it's clear, no more hiss, it's like it was removed during the process

if you follow one certain pattern near the beggining even after it's completely layered with other sounds you will be able to hear 1 sec woman voice, no clue what it is though, difficult to hear and comprehend
the one which starts at 00:35

Hold on ... you're not a fan of Roygbiv? :| Each to their own, but

listening to this on shrooms was interesting, these patterns were like never ending, echoing forever, placing me into very difficult state. and you had this awareness - they should have ended like few seconds ago, but they were still and still.
TH is a masterpiece

that's cool,
JC is one of my fav on the album, I like how almost every track on the album has some kind of weird bite and it's all come together so well, even the artwork, it just feels like a product of their work process

yes... this one pulls you open and leaves you to hang out. I agree re masterpiece. For me, relative to my personal relationship with BOCs music – TH feels like it came from an important period of growth – inspiring me to keep growing and changing even when it gets uncomfortable.

I don't really see what those 3 tracks have in common, or what makes them 'counterparts', particularly Roygbiv to Basefree.

Try to listen to it backwards, it sounds like diving into depths of the ocean. Absolutely deliberate work will unfold in front of you.
Also, at the end there's some speech-like sound, very easy to catch (listening backwards), difficult to comprehend. The album's still surprising, although I don't think it is super-duper-awesome.

It's definitely one of my favourite songs, and one of the most deeply melancholic songs ever.

I'm pretty sure the entire looping/evolving synth line had to be done in one take. It sounds to me like the bro's were playing keys live into a loop pedal/program and had two channels recording it simultaneously. The live playing comes in first, panned hard left, and mixes into the endless loop in the center of the mix (eventually stealing available voices so as to not make the melody a garbled mess).

If my theory is correct, they would have had to do some serious editing to only pick out the "good" parts of this looping jam and not cause a jarring hiccup in the melody (because random new notes would have been added/subtracted from the melody that you are hearing live, so to speak). Not saying that the Boards wouldn't do their best to edit it in seamlessly if it called for it, obviously. Something tells me that it was all one take though, which is impressive to me.

I pointed out on the youtube video that each new loop is played panned either hard to the left or right before being thrown into the mix above. It seems that the entire thing is made by building up short loops oui.

This song was my initial favorite upon hearing the album for the first time, just lovely.
