the internet and the universe are the same kind of tool theyre mirror reflection of the users . we are already inside the internet and singularity . we choose what world is created and if we decide to immerse into an evil world we have to convert it like we know is best . the internet is not to be run away from. . only way out is thru. WWW is 666 in hebrew . lets convert to 999 and move on upwards . reflect light of inner sun.

tho we walk thru the valley of shadow of death we will fear no evils!!!

from one source all things depends .. but some how live in delusion feel there are two sources., some who chose the down wards will find them selves spilling their seeds into the abyss . tomorrows harvest we must grow into the celestial realms (heaven ) . . the 3 suns are orion , many of us are from there . reach 4 the dead .

Fantastic, but especially applicable in regards to the idea of documentation.

The internet itself isn't evil, the people ON it are evil

There are so many deluded, horrible people in the world, and if they go on the internet they will just ruin it. It's already started happening

It seems to me that the most significant reason for peoples' addictions to their mobile devices, computers, TVs, iPods, or whatever the fuck technological gadgets they are plugged into is their alienation from their social and natural environments. Many people feel cut off from 'the source' (whatever that is to you-- spirit, love, God, energy) because they live in bizarre artificial arrangements of humans called cities. They do not have adequate opportunities for satisfying social activity and meaningful engagements with the natural world that connects all of us with the rest of the universe across time and space. The tech toys are a temporary distraction from the pain of the monotonous metropolis. They provide our impoverished souls with less satisfying versions of the things we really crave-- face-to-face social interaction, sensory stimulation, and purposeful activity.

Hey Cupz-- I appreciate the questions and ideas you bring to these discussions on Twoism. I hope your mission to find the middle ground is successful. I have been trying to do the same for some years now and it has not been easy. The more universal these technologies become, the harder it is for an individual to relinquish them. I think the best approach for now is to selectively relinquish the tools that are least valuable to you and find alternative solutions to take their place. For the cases where using the the Internet is mandatory, work out a compromise.

With all the developments taking shape in the world of technology, I do worry about what kind of dystopian future we are heading into. Facebook recently acquired Oculus, a company that builds virtual reality goggles. I find those kinds of things far more sinister than the NSA data-gathering.

adblock plus is actually a commercial product and the company who own it sell space on the whitelist for cash.

Adblock Edge is a fork of the Adblock Plus version 2.1.2 extension for blocking advertisements on the web, without sponsored ads whitelist.

I have been using Adblock Plus since forever and didn't see anything get by it (but then again I'm using it with custom lists...)

I would also recommend Ghostery - it's also a firefox/whatnot addon - it blocks everything Adblock doesn't, such as widgets belonging to sites other than what you are visiting. Once blocked, you have the option to unblock them once or permanently (so if it's some Brightcove hosted video you unblock once to see it... if it's a Disqus comment widget, you unblock it permanently).

Correct, the fact that the Internet is in the grips of some 5-star generals from the USA, gathering warehouses of information every couple of months... well that is just to keep us safe and stop those deluded horrible persons from poisoning our pure minds!

I personally hope they would just gather up all those deluded & horrible people (starting with those judged as deluded and horrible by Headphase) and put them in some camps... and put them to work... because work purifies the soul! If they cannot be "corrected" we can always just slaughter them and make biscuits out of their corpses...

No, we'll make them immortal and have their brains control nothing but virtual pets in a future farm-ville. They dont get to interact much but at least they dont have to die.

I'm 100% with you on this one but let's keep quiet because General Headphase might hear us

Some thoughts:

I have a love/hate relationship with social networking. I keep a file on my laptop called antisocial.rtf which lists what 'social networks' - meaning websites with a social component, not counting forums - I'm on. It currently consists of:
lookbook
pinterest
facebook
vimeo
tumblr
vsco
flickr
glitche
reddit

Not proud that the list is that long. I plan to remove myself from Lookbook, Pinterest, Flickr and Glitche soon and consolidate some things on my Tumblr. I don't like social networking very much at all, but I do find it useful for meeting likeminded individuals and following artists/musicians/photographers whose work I admire. Tumblr is my favorite by far.

I knew FB harvest my info and sell it on to flog me stuff I don't need - nothing new in that - but this stuff seems to be a stage further than I'd realised. Are they REALLY wanting to listening to our conversations WHILE IN STANDBY MODE??? I knew the military could do that, but has it really come to this???

Nothing surprises me about any of these huge, publicly listed companies. They are all in cahoots with one another. Y'know people say what governments fear most is large groups of people congregating in one place, well with social networks they have perverted the egalitarian vision of the internet and communion to profit their own ends.

Sick. Now we're talking.

Having said that, though.... man, you guys are dismal!

Doesn't anyone have a sense of decadence? I find the electro moshpit of information kind of fascinating to be plugged into. Look, I know I'm going to die in 70ish years, and that's if I'm really lucky. This cracked-out hyperworld has shown me more than I ever expected to see in life. Shit, hell, it practically gave BIRTH to me. I adore it. It's the frothy, Eukaryotic cyber-sea I was formed in, and into which I'll re-dither when I'm on my way out. The internet gave me some of the best and most wonderful emotional experiences of my life - connected me up with true family, got me, a hopeless misfit, into a little nest where I belong. I never would've found all this without the internet. The list goes on and on and on.

Go smell trees if you want, I did that all throughout my childhood and I don't particularly miss it. And Emerson's an old pigdog, I don't give a damn what he says.

I'm not trying to convince anyone else they're wrong, but just be aware there's those of us here who thoroughly disagree with the "I dunno, I dunno, I don't trust it, I dunno, I don't trust it" muddling attitude that seems popular on this topic. Yes, your government is trying to squeeze every last ounce of juice out of you and then crush you. That was true back when we had Tzars, that is not news.

Anybody feel me?
