Telegram does not require a phone. It's multiplatform. It has desktop apps and works in every web browser. This is the new IRC and 'kids' love it.

Working on it. I've been (casually) compiling/checking code of this monster for over 5 hours now. Its a ginourmous build and first pass did nothing but fill up my entire /tmp partition. Also making sure I'm not getting anything I don't want. Funny a messenger can be a bigger bitch to compile then a full commercial-grade 3d moddeling suit.
