Ahh this song is probably my favorite song of all. As soon as I heard it, those loops, the main bass line, the warps and twists, the merging, the lo-fi tube/tape sound. While I know many disagree with this, in my opinion, this song reflects everything that they represent up until present. I love how they play with light and dark. If they ever play live, I want to see how they do this one.

I still hear new notes, loops and phrases more in this song than any other boards song. I don't think people give this song enough credit. It's more complex musically than most criticizers have ever mentioned. Maybe it's too "experimental" than they care for but for me, it's the most psychedelic song I think I've ever heard. Classic Boards riffs that I will never forget! :) pure bliss to my ears

I've never cared much for this track really as it seems too simplistic. The loop melodies are typical of any digital delay pedal board guitar effect using a high feedback setting.

Eventually, there are 3 (poly)rhythms occurring in each bar (one in equal measures of 3, one in equal measures of 4 using an offbeat 'skank' hi-hat pattern, and one in equal measures of 5 with the 4th beat omitted).

Loop station plus polyrhythms for 6 minutes....meh. Matches Basefree for least fave BOC track IMHO.

I agree. I love simplicity as much as complexity. The trouble I have with JC is it's trying to be complex and a bit clever and doesn't quite succeed imo. Cool others like it though :)

Isn't the point of this song that it develops and evolves from something simple, branching off, dividing, mutating, growing, just as technology has done across history?

I agree with this. It 's not necessarily bad, just too long.

I guess it just hits me on a personal note
It's one of those songs where it triggers past emotions and even a sense of, this is the song I have always heard in my life but never actually did, lol
It reminds me of old tunes or twoism era sounds.
My friend David who passed would have really digged this song and album, reminds me of something he would like :)

This. I think Mexi interpreted the sounds in the same way I did.
Its the development of Human technology over time.
The Jacquard loom is considered to be the first ever 'computer' which serves as a hint.

Also the way that each new layer is introduced hard to the Right/ Left (depending) before being thrown into the mix above mimics the way technologies are introduced and gain a lot of attention at first before rather swiftly just becoming part of standard infrastructure that people forget about.

Yes, very much so in my opinion. The warbled lo-fi crunchy synths and beats reminds me of sixtyniner with basefree a little bit.

I will never understand the devisiveness of this one. Just came on shuffle for me and I have to stop in my tracks to give it my full attention every time. The stuff that's happening in this track...MAN.

Yep, exactly. This is undoubtedly the best track on the album.

HOLD IT. That belongs to Nothing is Real, followed by Semena Mertvykh and Cold Earth, but Jacquard comes in fourth! Sundown rounds out the top 5 for me.

Umm. Is the title anything to with Jacquard Island in Nova Scotia? I mean, it's an island (in that there Canada) and they can have causeways to get to them.

Not too far from the Trans Canada Highway…? (Yes, pushing it, but you never know… :) )

Or this old computer? https://collection.maas.museum/object/460200 :)
