A/B/C/D - Catalog 3
E/F - Acid Memories
G/H/I/J - Closes Vol. 1
K/L - Play by Numbers
M/N - Hooper Bay

O/P - Music Has The Right To Children b-sides (including 'happy cycling', unreleased tracks off 'BOC Maxima', and more)
Q/R - Geogaddi b-sides (including 'from one source all things depend', and more)
S/T - The Campfire Headphase b-sides (including 'macquarie ridge', and more)
U/V - Tomorrow's Harvest b-sides (including 'harvest ritual', and more unreleased material originally slated to release as a follow-up EP in 2015)

W/X - Misc. unreleased tunes, as heard in leaked "a few old tunes", "old tunes vol. 2", "random 35 track tape" mixtapes.

Y/Z - double sided etched vinyl of various mathematical concepts and boc-related imagery (pioneer plaque humans, boc compound, etc.)

Each set of records is housed in it's own sleeve with original and touched up artwork.

The album is themed around space travel and features long, droning synths with deep, spaced out drum patterns. The album is their most cohesive yet with most tracks building off the previous one as if the entire album was one continuous song. Elements and samples of their previous albums drift in and out of the mix and become more distorted and distant as the album goes on.

My only theory with the Uhh comment section is, if it's real, maybe one day, we might get a link to a website containing Biz's crazy awesome BOC fanfiction

I 100% believe Sheol is legitimate in some way. Neptuneful's original video could not have been set up for a hoax eight years later. I mean, it could have been, but seriously? He even mentioned how he vaguely remembered the Whitney Houston photo from Sheol Boundary on the Hi Facebook page.

The Pioneer Plaque, the humor, the Sep 30 2013 connection, and the obscurity all point to this being a genuine Boards of Canada channel at its finest. The video is hilarious every time I watch it and I feel within that tells me this is them. Let us just enjoy it but of course, be cautiously optimistic.

We all need to wake up early Christmas morning and check the eff out of that video.

Prancelot, the porno sample, and the Pioneer Plaque are from 1972. In Prancelot, they arrive for the Crusades 50 years too late. The Pioneer Plaque is about to be 50 years old. Also, in Prancelot, they go back to England on a space ship. Huh. Weird.

I just wanted to be part of the thread. Do carry on.

In regards to the vinyl delays. So if they are supposed to release something next year it should be delivered by December probably.

Speculation indicates they probably finished the record when the Pioneer plaque surfaced (September 2020). Followed by the I Feel Good (April 2021) where they probably expressed joy because the record is in the production queue. Or it could all mean nothing at all of course. :D

Speculation overview: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14811

So taking into account what you said and what I've written above I'd say a Spring 2022 release is not so far fetched anymore...

Not gonna lie. Going to hold the BOCset/new album up to these standards.

Haha kidding. :P Though I feel we're either going to get the minimum from them, or they're going to give it all away and fly to Mars.

Limited to 747 sets would also be a nice touch, and probably make it sold out quicker than PS5.

I swear Skam will broadcast your song only once over shortwave radio, only for 300 people to hear if you asked them to.

I hope its an album more than a BoCset, don't get me wrong a BoCset would take years to properly digest and we'd get years of enjoyment and huge sample hunting tangents to go on but the pioneer images make me think it could be a final transmission before disappearing into space forever

i don't understand why anyone would think a new album isn't coming, just because the BoCset might be coming...

you think they stopped making new music just to focus on getting their old material ready for release?

c'mon

I too want to hear BOC's Abbey Road. My biggest qualm with TH was it replaced a lot of the melodicity of the previous three albums with a great dystopian atmosphere. One interviewer even asked them about it, and they said, "Maybe next time."

I'm hoping the next album brings back the melodicity in a way that ties everything together and reminds us why the band is one of the greatest of its genre, much like Abbey Road.

PS: This isn't a slight to TH either, because really, no album has made me lament more for the state of the world currently than TH.

By coincidence I just listened to TH tonight (BST) on CD and I do agree that the amount of bleak-ness overpowers melody on that one, I have little doubt in my mind that when they said "they’ll keep making music" that I assumed they would continue releasing some of that music of in the form of studio albums after TH.

With tomorrow’s harvest they fully explored the idea of visual images to accompany the music, that’s always been something that draws me in to the albums, a mood or a soundscape that they each inhabit. LP5 will hopefully continue on and elaborate forward a wide and varied sound palette that has been perfected with the previous 4.

I’m persistent with my opinion that there is a high probability of new material (in whatever shape or form) coming around the bend soon.
I’m all for whatever’s in store, BOCset (thanks biznasty for that luxurious description) or not.

I've always joked that TH is their "goth" album because nowhere other than goth/darker metal bands do you have that much gloom and misery on one album. Though I think they've admitted in interviews, they used to be a bit of a goth outfit so it makes sense.

For their next chapter, I don't essentially want them to change their standpoint on the world, (Mike said he had depression and was struggling with the existential thought of leaving his kids on this fucked up planet, and so TH is a valid and very accurate depiction of his mindset) but I do want some lighter/more melodic moments again. Because there is still beauty to be found in this world, if you know where to look. Fall, for instance, is beautiful even if it's simply a bunch of plants dying.
