Speculation, they are in a contractual kerfuffle with warp and have been on for years, explains the delays, the lack of mdg, the glib presence done by whoever mans the “official” channels…

If you have time and electrons to waste you can start asking questions on instagram or YouTube and see what gets likes, but even that is far fetched as high hell.

So "Twoism" vinyl repress will be released on 7 November now (not this friday)...
https://bleep.com/release/12985-boards-of-canada-twoism

"The Campfire Headphase" is 20 next month, my "protection of happiness generator" I admit... :]

If you look back, is there something from Campfire Headphase that does not satisfy you anymore today? I ask this because it seems to me that "Tomorrow's Harvest" is a significant step forward from its precedessor, especially concerning moods and sounds.

Marcus: "Honestly, every time we work on a new album we tend to make it sound differently from the previous one, as for sounds and moods... or at least this is our aim. It is a very precise choice. We still want to suggest an idea of change, we want to hear clearly that it is all about a new chapter. This said, I still believe that Campfire Headphase contains many good tracks, among the best things we have ever done. Making a new album which sounds different from the previous one doesn't mean disowning the predecessor, right?"

Inspired by titles like "'84 Pontiac Dream" and "Tears from the Compound Eye" on this album, do you ever create works from the perspective of non-human entities, nature, or artificial objects?

Mike: "Griffith's statement is intriguing. I sometimes resonate with creating music like that. Being an instrumental band has both advantages and disadvantages. While we lack an immediately communicable vocal message, we're free to imbue our music with strange themes behind the scenes. I've always been fascinated by apocalyptic ideas—the end of the society we know and the potential for survival beyond that. It was a popular theme in the 70s, especially in dark, apocalyptic sci-fi depicting humanity's bleak future. Sometimes, I imagine I'm composing music that flows through that era and even beyond."

The titles of the tracks on your previous albums contained hidden messages. Does this apply to the latest one as well?

Marcus: Yes—but not in the same way as the previous one. Our titles always refer to something or have a second, hidden meaning. This also applies to the tracks on The Campfire Headphase, but more in the sense that the tracks here are meant to form one large, very complex picture that we hope at least some listeners will be able to see. Plus, on this record, we deliberately inserted hidden vocal samples into the compositions. All to get a festive dance sound with a heart-wrenching sadness in it.

So the new Sexual Objects album just dropped on Sept 19, 2025. The classic "Sometimes" got a name change (The Protection of Happiness Generator ) , but the bros produced two other cuts — Here Come the Rubber Cops and Feels With Me.

There is nothing to speculate, you might as well close this thread

I suggest we leave it open. In busy, slow, and sick times. There should always be room for speculation. If someone comes up with a new theory, we should leave room to discuss it.

I'l admit that even I'm discouraged, but to make a suggestion that we should close this thread sounds like rage baiting. If you feel this thread is in vain, just don't look at it.

That would make it part III, 3! My favorite number. There's still much to speculate on. For instance, when will we have something to speculate on again? I think maybe next year.

I get the feeling that if we get a new album we get something with more prog-rock key/meter-changes and more slap-bass (Aquarius meets Poppy Seeds Reprise meets Gentle Giant). Maybe they want to start performing while avoiding people screaming "press play" so they've just been practicing, running their scales over the last decade, really owning ultra-complicated song structures. Tomorrows Harvest was way subtle, they'll probably go all out next.

Negamuse wrote:Quoting this famous story

I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all.

And before anyone gets salty that I'm calling people Nazis, it's a metaphor.

Thinking about the kind of place you want to have and kicking out the people who stop it being that place is an absolutely fine thing to do. If people like me are the problem, by all means, ban me.

no, sometimes it's not a metaphor unfortunately
