To address some of the comments and questions people have raised, and provide additional details:
I have made BoC purchases from Bleep over the years, including the new designs when the last merch drop happened last year. My presumption is that’s how they selected at least SOME of the recipients.
There was no flexi disc included as far as I can tell.
There was no NDA or anything similar, the only “warning” was the one in the video itself, which I assume is meant ironically.
As far as I can tell, the content of my tape is the same as what’s been shared so far.
One of the first things I did once I opened the package (after making sure the write-protect tab was popped!) was to look at everything with a UV light: I didn’t see anything on the tape, the sleeve, or the packing envelope.
I manually flipped up the “cover” that exposes the tape, there was nothing there, either.
The send date for my tape was 02.04.2026, April 2nd, same as the others. I received it on april 7th, which to me seems AMAZING for international shipping, getting through customs, and the present wretched state of the USPS. (No criticism of the employees intended, the agency has just been starved.)
The sender is Andy Robinson, same name as the actor who played the serial killer in Dirty Harry (probably a coincidence.)
The case IS held together with screws, but I don’t think I want to risk opening it until I can make a maximum quality rip, if even then. If someone else reliably confirms something noteworthy was found inside one of the other tapes, I may reconsider.
A friend of mine who has professional video experience was working with me last night to make a digital capture. We noted that the tape ran for several minutes past the point the content apparently ended. We noted that the imagery is slightly smaller than the video frame, there’s a small black border around it.
We’re going to work to get the best possible capture we can, but I’m happy to share what I have so far. I’m going to drop it to rareboc this evening. If anyone else has a dropbox and can help distribute, please message me the address.
The spine of the tape has an NTSC sticker, and we were able to play it on an NTSC VHS player. The markings “E 15 SHG”, “BC”, and “201205” are also printed on the spine in a dot+matrix format.
Top of the tape has the hexagon pattern and embossed into the top of the protective tape cover is “Insert this side into the recorder (arrow) Do not touch the tape inside”.
On the underside of the tape, there is a circular recess along the center line horizontally, and vertically it’s about midway between the reels and the hinged cover. At the bottom of that recess,
