Genuinely, I'm the opposite, I think we're about to see an ARG on steroids.

I hope you're right!

Evidently Alex Jones reconstructing the Branch Davidian site/debacle. I think it's from '99 or 2000.

right, but which of the 'framed guys from the VHS' - "He’s Alex jones whom was involved in the reconstruction of the Branch Davidian building in Waco in 1999. The frame in the vhs might be slightly different from this but I’m pretty confident he’s one of the guys."

which frame in the VHS is supposed to be Alex Jones?

Someone pointed out on reddit that the [HAMAD] account on Youtube that posted this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHrkr_VzYyo surprisingly quickly after the tape came out also posted this video 4 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFibvvcw0Hs with the title "BOC" (with sun and flower emojis, which I can't post here).

And the two "WARC" tracks from the Warp Selections playlist (on streamers) are titled Warp Selections [FLOWER EMOJI] and Warp Selections [SUN EMOJI]

Could that be co-incidence?

(explained in this comment, where the emojis show properly: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardsofcanada ... t/of7qv6o/ )

I suspect this will not be an ARG alongside Tomorrow's Harvest (get codes from various means to enter into a site for preview content). Instead I'm guessing it will be an ARG along the lines of Geogaddi hidden messages on steroids. Real events will be referenced. A lot of which will require putting on our detective hats. Religion seems to be a strong theme on the VHS tapes. BoC have shown themselves to be advocates for freedom of thought. They have recently restated this by only displaying fan made videos for One Very Important Thought on their official YouTube channel. I have suspicion that they aim to show us in a new release some of the impactful results of exercising freedom of thought and it's relationship with common attempts at manipulating other people's thoughts. Certainly there is plenty of that going on and I think it weighs on their mind just as it does many. By means of the new release, they may want us to come to ask ourselves: "Where do your thoughts come from? Who are you letting change them?" These are important questions to ask ourselves that many people simply don't. What a cool/worthwhile art project to make if it can get people to really think about that.

A bit of rambling speculation, but I think it might fit the bill. I'm excited to see whatever it ends up being.

The sun symbol from the WARC playlist matches the sound hole shape of Mike Heron's guitar

phpBB [media]

and the 'sun' image in the tape is very similar to the 'sun' image from Vernal Equinox playlist

also notice that the flower symbol from the WARC playlist has 5 petals

Yeah this is what I was thinking… the religion focus seems to be something they have played with for a long time, but with the increasing prominence of cult-like views that abound currently, maybe they are relating that religious symbolism with the current political climate. I remember once reading that 9/11 and the resultant political shift played heavily into the tone and themes of Geogaddi, which scans. Maybe I am just too conceptual art-brained though haha.

By any chance do you know when the playlist was updated? I noticed it this morning, but was unsure if it’s been like that for a few months (wouldn’t surprise me with the political state of the world) or if it was more recent.

Not a criticism, but I think it's quite interesting that they haven't really updated their schtick, so to speak - I don't necessarily mean the VHS tape, but the themes - religion, televangelism, aliens? etc. all feel very Gen X specific, almost vintage now in 2026, even a step back in time from Tomorrow's Harvest?
Although I liked zeoevil's post earlier in the thread - about the video themes/images on the tape progressing in the same way as their discography, so maybe the tape only shows the 'progress to date' and there's a part 2 (maybe on the longer tape?) that indicates the new album's theme.

If it's what inspires them though, they are Gen Xers after all, and that world brought about this one, we're still feeling the effects of those topics today.

I'm a little surprised they are still able to find new artifacts to pull out and sample and whatnot, they're not pulling the low hanging fruit. And new ways to use them as well.

Mr. 747! Great to see you here again! Been a while! What an amazing time to come back into the community. Feels like TH all over again. I agree with your speculation…. especially with how the world shifted after they released TH.

Yeah, I'm just a bit surprised that it feels so vintage BOC after all this time - it did feel at launch that Tomorrow's Harvest was a distinct move forward to a different era, even to the point that it was getting criticism, but the references here feel older. Again, not a criticism, just wondering if that means anything, like an indicator of a BOCset rather than a new album.

Yeah could be. We'll see I guess! It's exciting telling people about this and not really knowing what exactly is going on.

It's funny you mentioning Gen X though, I'm that age and you do kind of have these thoughts with old media, even if you know it's all produced, it wasn't speaking to the truth of the world as it was entirely, you kind of look at it and go "wow where did that world go".

I dunno if BoC themselves produced that tape or just signed off on it and it came out of Warp Marketing, but wow the darkness and the degraded nature of it, the way it feels like a copy of a copy of a copy. Really does make me think of that whole thing with the hopes of a past world becoming unrecognisable in the present day. I wonder if that's the take this time round.
