Remember when Oneohtrix Point Never shared a pic of the broz live set on his insta story.... about a year ago? He was probably told then, and wanted to some how share the news without spilling the beans.

And PIC's unreleased version that was shared on HIS insta story a year and a half ago was probably when HE learned of the upcoming release.

I think we are getting a new album, plus unreleased.

Both promo events so far (VHS tape and cinema style poster) are leaning more towards film than music.

Hexagon Sun movie? (and not a Boards of Canada album?)

I would love a BoC film curated by them and camp and accompanied by an original sound track… i like some of the fan ones out there already but a true Hexagon Sun film would be awesome

This is ramping up quickly — I like it!

I'm also visiting London next week and plan to take a pilgrimage to the poster sites, so hopefully they're still up and un-vandalised. Perhaps the big announcement will land before my visit?

I thought the same.

Man what a year, new BoC, GTA6, the first proper Speedy J album in over 20 years, another album by The Cure is supposed to drop as well.

:D

I’m just thinking, how are some random people sitting at a coffee shop or walking on the street ever gonna find out what the trippy zombie children were advertising

Personally, when i see a super mysterious and intriguing poster, i search it up to see what it is. That could be a strategy theyre going for. or they could just be targeting their own fans.

That would make for a great initiation. Someone seeing this, somehow figuring out what it’s advertising and being blown away by some ethereal tunes. That being said they’re offering absolutely nothing to go on. At least the Aphex Twin billboards used his trademark logo. That’ll stick in people’s subconscious until they see SAW85-92 at the record store or something.

Tbh it’s probably just a tradeoff that comes with doing a mysterious rollout. If they offered any clear connection, it said ”Warp” somewhere in the poster or there was a QR code or something, it would ruin the integrity of the guerrilla marketing. Either way I’m curious to see how this unfolds. It feels like the beginning of a bigger spectacle

If the album is about an alien invasion then I’m going to call bullshit if aliens actually invade a few months after release.

I think the tapes are driving this community insane. It's deleted now, but someone on the reddit posted that a certain clip from the tape looked like Jerma985

They did similar for the TH lead up, but...could you imagine a film w/soundtrack release? Ex. you could watch the film w/soundtrack, then later listen to the soundtrack, and during the listen your mind's eye could associate imagery from the film or even derivations from your creativity.

I hope BoC comes with a album that both acts as a mirror and as a call to return to our source.

This. The main message I got from Tomorrow’s Harvest was not so much that the world is ending, it was that there is a real existential threat: climate change, and our actions CAN make a difference, by drastically reducing humanity’s carbon footprint, but instead, just like the prey of the cyclosa, many people are being distracted by bullshit (chemtrails, “FEMA Concentration Camps” that are actually just Amtrak facilities, black helicopters, etc.) and ignoring the real danger.

So the ideal scenario for us is a new album + the BOCset, and I just realized the graphic on the video and posters - it's a hexagon surrounded by 6 hexagons. I wonder if each of these hexagons will slowly become filled out somehow, with the new album being the last one in the middle.

Catalog 3
Acid Memories
Closes Vol. 1
Play By Numbers
Hooper Bay
Boc Maxima

Just clutching for shits and giggles.

We're on the same page!! :] I posted about the same theory on April 8th glad I am not alone!

If these posters are an indication of new material, we might be getting some balls-to-the-walls BoC after an extremely subtle Tomorrows Harvest and I'm so down for that.

I wonder if their time remixing and producing for other people has given them new ideas for directions to go in with this one?

The posters do suggest something pretty full on.

I dunno about to hope for the box set, it feels like expecting it to be anything other than a new album is setting myself up for disappointment. That logo could just be hexagons. But I gotta admit that theory with each representing an album is juicy.

Also just like people were saying random tweets from different artists over the years maybe suggested they'd heard something, maybe MikeP selling his hard copy of the old tunes tapes suggests he knows they're coming down the pipe and this was his last chance to sell them at that kind of money

My hope for the existence of the BOCset is purely off the back of MDG stating they were working on one. It seems cruel to announce and then renege on that. New album on the 26th of June, BOCset by October is my guess. If that is indeed the case then pass me the defibrillator, the thought of the anticipation of a new album with the added anticipation of their archived works a few months after, may induce cardiac arrest/soiled underwear/both.

I saw those quotes by them from 2008 or something? ”We’ve been cataloging our old unreleased works but… there are too many tracks… it’s too much work”
What are you talking about Marcus? Those early albums have fixed track lists that add up to maybe less than 50 tracks in total? Back then you deemed their contents worthy of releasing instead of the other stuff so why think now that you have to reconsider what to release publicly? Just hand those tapes off to Warp and they’ll remaster and clean them up Jesus… sorry it was just a bit puzzling to see

There is hell of a lot more tracks than we've been privy to I think, many albums worth. Ooooohhh, maybe the 7 hexagons are the 6 unreleased albums + a new album of unreleased works, all comprising the BOCset.
