Why?
VHS cassettes = film;
Posters = movie posters;
Hollywood = the film industry.

It's not unheard of. Radiohead did audio-only listening parties in 2000 for Kid A and Amnesiac (I was there, it was incredible).

Will they go full Daft Punk and release a feature length film, à la Electroma? I really hope so.

I could see them releasing music and (short) films this time around. They’ve mentioned in past interviews experimenting with film and even expressed ambitions to release movies, if I recall correctly.

Considering the recent VHS tapes and the spotted posters, I think you might be onto something. Could film play a more prominent role this time? That might explain why it’s taken them all these years, if a new release is indeed coming. With recent events, though, I have no doubt something is on the way.

Imagine they’ve been working on both music and film simultaneously. All the time that goes into production like that can be an incredibly long process. Just some food for thought.

On one hand: Are we just looking at a really well-executed, imaginative "tease" with a set release date? Maybe it’s for... God knows what... but there’s nothing actually to decode. Are we supposed to just lean back, indulge, and be frustratingly excited while we wait?

On the other hand... I can’t shake the feeling that we’re missing something. Especially today, it feels like we’re being nudged. Two things are sticking out to me:

1. That AT&T video. Debated here earlier today, but the visual cues and thematic are just too "spot on." Has this ever been shared here before? It feels like such an obvious BoC find—whether it was last year or 20 years ago. Why is it surfacing now?

2. The "perfect" VHS rip. Conveniently, after a few days of delay, this Dutch Reddit user (can’t find the post anymore, deleted?) finally opens his package. He also just happen to have the exact equipment and technique to produce a spotless digital conversion – the best one I’ve seen so far. It’s the whole film, including the silence at the end. Also explaining how to skip frame by frame using the , and . on the keyboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txOkz6chDTE

It makes me wonder if we’re being told to look closer. Frame by frame, every second of audio, even the "blank" space.
Are we missing something big here?

Yes I couldn't help feel that the AT&T thing was being fed to us, it felt that way in the post over on Reddit, and like you i can't believe that this is the first time we've all seen this, BOC fans would have been all over this.

I guess it makes sense though that a perfect rip would come later than the quick ones done in a hurry and excitement. Day 1 account isn't necessarily a surprise either lots of people don't have Reddit accounts, but if something like this landed on you, you'd kind of post it places like that even so.

The silence of the usual suspects is deafening so yes, it feels, just as in 2013, like we are being nudged.

That is indeed a very good rip. The Reddit post for it is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardsofcanada ... ther_tape/
Note that the uploader, in the YouTube description even tips the ‘investigators’ to pause the video and use the . and , keys to frame-step through the video.

Edit: my bad, I now see Chorus already mentioned the frame-step in the description in his post. :?

Yeah, I agree on day 1. But there were several decent rips uploaded during last week. It just gave me the feeling they overestimated our VHS-conversion-abilities. "They can't see or hear it, their conversions aren't good enough" – "They lack that one important frame - give them a better copy".

Maybe the strongest artistic statement would be for fans to fail to figure things out, and then nothing. The real degradation, collapse, etc... silence at the end of the tape continuing on forever.

Something else that has been on my mind…seven hexagons, we have four albums.

My fellow Norwegians, Röyksopp. After their own eight-year "album hiatus," they didn't just drop one record – they released an entire trilogy (Profound Mysteries) in a single year. Each album was a few months apart, all visually and thematically linked, but still distinct releases. They had a long, cryptic buildup too (okay, not BoC cryptic, but still). Just saying…

NTSC runs at 30fps / 60fps
Pal runs at 25fps / 50fps

Those missing frames are therefore probably due to the fps difference.

Most of the video is static. What are the chances that the missing frames contain those images?

I speculate that we will receive another significant "update" or tease by the end of the week.

Well, wouldn't that be hilarious if it turns out to be true.

Hi, first post. I haven't read through everything so forgive me if this is rehash of many other's ideas.

I have thoughts around a release date and its significance I wanted to share:

First off, BOC liked comments about releasing new music for a 70 day period last year --- (music70).
(i haven't looked into the significance of those dates.)

The first VHS to arrive to ppl was (i think?) on April 5th the holiest Christian holiday of the year.

70 days after April 5th is June 14th.

June 14th is without question the largest cult related event in US history:
(yes we all understand BOC's obsession is with US cults and religion in general...). -- A sitting US president (who is surrounded by Christian nationalists -- many obsessed with the actual idea of bringing about armageddon) is hosting a televised UFC fight on the front lawn of the white house for his 80th birthday... I can't believe this is real life but here we are... Jesus.

All UFC fights take place in an Octagon.

A recent image taken from a BOC VHS is from televangelist's sermon from 1988(?) prominently featuring an... Octagon.

(Octagon/1988/80th birthday).

I tried to listen to this video with Shazam and got this after some attempts:

https://youtu.be/f2gveQYBB-w?t=52

Seems to match pretty closely at 0:52, the version in the video seems passed through a delay

The song is part of the soundtrack for this National Geographic documentary "The Living Sands of Namib" (1978). It's used at 26:26: https://youtu.be/yGFPLOXXNHE?t=1586

chorus wrote:Being back here feels like a total time warp (pun massively intended).

I was reading, a bit of writing, but mostly refreshing like a madman 13 years ago – you know that feeling where five new pages of posts would pop up in the time it took to read just one? It was absolute chaos, but in the best way. For over a decade, I never really stopped checking in. Just chasing fragments and faint signals about our favorite brothers, never quite giving up on the dream of LP5.

And now... it’s actually happening? My brain still hasn't fully processed it.

Like most of us who were around in 2013, I’m older now. Not necessarily wiser, and the internet definitely hasn't aged well. Everything feels faster, louder, and a bit more disposable. One thing that’s really hitting me this time around is that twoism.org doesn't feel like the center of the BoC universe anymore.

The raw energy has shifted. Most of the digging and the hype is happening over on Reddit or Discord. I’m over there too, refreshing with the rest of the crowd, but it's a different vibe. It’s a lot of "noise." You’ve got people on YouTube rushing to package half-formed theories into "content" and recycling the same findings every couple of days. It feels like a lot of folks want the mystery explained away instantly rather than just sitting with it. They’re missing the lingo and the inside jokes that we used to take for granted.

Plus, is it just me, or are there suddenly all these "interpreters" popping up? People I’ve never seen in the community acting like they need to simplify the mystique for everyone.

Still, I find myself clicking back to this tab multiple times a day. This place just breathes differently. It’s quieter, deeper, and there’s a shared history here that you can’t replicate.

I keep thinking back to those late nights – people actually driving out into the desert to chase coordinates while we all sat here waiting for updates. The slow, collective work of decoding and arguing until everything finally aligned. When the six codes clicked and Tomorrow’s Harvest revealed itself in real-time... man, being here at that exact second felt like witnessing magic.

Maybe I’ve just got some "grumpy old man" energy going on. I know there's a risk of sounding like I think things were "purer" back in the day, but it’s more just realizing how much the world has changed around the music.

Regardless, I’m just glad this place is still kicking. Huge thanks to everyone who has kept the lights on here. It’s nice to have a spot that moves a little slower.

If this all turns out to be another massive ARG, part of me really hopes it breaks here first. Not because we "own" it or anything, but because it would just feel... right.

Seven hexagons, everyone. Good to be back.

This post speaks to me, thank you.

I'm avoiding Reddit (which I didn't even know existed when TH was released) and absolutely not looking at discord. The beauty of twoism.org is that it still lives in the form of a message board before algorithms. Maybe this sounds like "old man energy" but I think it is more about avoiding too much "content" exposure to protect one's love for the music. I'm not sure how to articulate the difference between this time and 13 years ago at the moment - it's connected everything you're saying here though.

Also, it is surreal to see all of the OGs returning to the board. For some reason I had Aesthetics delete my account sometime after the Societas period but I began posting here back in 2013 in anticipation of Tomorrow's Harvest... I was in college in Germany then on an exchange program and I stopped going to class completely to be as present as possible for the treasure hunt. That was such an inspiring time.
