The 1996 R1 session version of Aquarius was played on Riley and Coe last night. Tonight they are playing another BOC session track (I’m listening to find out which). I can’t remember ever hearing Riley and Coe play the same artist/session on consecutive nights. Kind of runs against their style to repeat stuff. Monday night’s Aquarius session was also mentioned on Huw Stephen’s show this afternoon.

I listen to 6Music all the time. This is the most I’ve heard BOC played or mentioned. I wonder if something new might appear there

This sounds promising.

Heck yeah!

lovely notion, let us know if anything cool happens :p

After digesting all of this for a few days and having a blast reminiscing here on twoism…

My current speculations from Most Unlikely to Most Likely:

Most Unlikely: Live shows + Old Material (Box Set) + An Official Companion “VHS” Release + A New Album
Unlikely: Old Material (Box Set) + An Official Companion “VHS” Release + A New Album
Likely: An Official Companion “VHS” Release + A New Album
Most Likely: A New Album

Lives Shows – As much as I would love to get a chance to see them live. I just don’t think this will happen. Hope I am wrong
Old Material (Box Set) – This will happen at some point. I don’t think now is that time.
An Official Companion “VHS” Release – I think there is a good chance that whatever is released will revolve around a visual companion piece that is more than just a music video like we have we have seen in the past. It would be epic to get a full length “feature” visual companion with new music as the score. Maybe even featuring vignettes that are not on the album. EVEN better would be if they had the option to purchase as VHS or Blu Ray…something like that.
A New Album – The most likely thing that all of this is leading to is a new album. It would be fantastic if there were more but, at the end of the day even if it is just a new release, I couldn’t be more excited. Just give me the option to purchase vinyl and cassette tape this go around.

The peel session was 1998 not 1996 was it not?

I remember it could have been a Thursday night. Just come back from the pub and put radio on to hear the very last track XYZ. Must have been 10pm ish? I’d heard of the album as my mate had bought it. But at the time didn’t think it was all too great at the time. Yeah. Weird.

A case can be made that maybe the recent release of so much old material might be the impetus they needed to finally release their old material in high quality.

I’ve never really listened to the Peel Sessions much. I didn’t know the session existed until the mid-00s. I like the first minute or so of XYZ, but then my ears wander off. Seemed an odd choice to play on their show tonight

what are they telling us with the seven-hexagon escalation of their own logo?

The seven tessellated hexagons on the VHS and posters (one central + six surrounding) feels like the classic Hexagon Sun logo escalated — no longer just a single glowing hexagon, but a completed cluster. Ties right into their math/revelation themes and the ‘seventh’ release speculation?

We are one of many, the hexagons join us together and are a symbol of our discovery. Come into the light...

Those really do look great, darker sounds are my favorite in their work, so happy to see this campaign seems to be leading so something more dubious again.

Which of their darker songs/sounds/shadowy activity are your favorites? I like everything that sets their music apart. My usual preference is for the pastoral, tranquil, blissful, playful side but when Geogaddi and TH get bad-trippy or end-timesy, I can also go there. I'm feeling weirded out right now, though, that's for sure. Eerie is so fun when done well.

The logo does the job of being recognized instantly as BOC, as well as being something fresh and new. I wouldn’t read into it too much, but that’s a big ask for this community.

Just as you can say it’s an escalation from a single hexagon, it’s also a layer stripped back from their Transcanada era graphic: https://bocpages.org/w/images/Hexagons.jpg

Unless I’m counting wrong, whatever is upcoming would not be considered their seventh release.

Changing topic to lingering questions I still have: Morse code at cosecha was for some reason, right? The six seconds at the beginning of Gemini are a unique way to kick off an album, right? There are some noticeable visual timing cues/symbols in Reach For The Dead video (mirror flashing, sun splitting). Will my curiosity ever be resolved? Which things mean something beyond the look and feel of seeing/hearing the thing? It's a game without obvious rules, and might be addictive. Anyway, I don't have news or any theories to push, I just wanted to take a turn at talking while we're in this limbo land. Act now. Call now. Fun, isn't it?

Yes... I can see these images correlating to the album art directly. I'm so excited just to know the title.

It is funny - childhood as a theme... well here it is again under the influence of unfathomable indoctrination.

I remember Mike recommending the book You Are Not a Gadget by Jaron Lanier in an interview... I think they're disturbed by the way digital culture has unfolded.

all seems congruent to me

Confession: part of me was feeling (for years) like the long wait for new music was because BOC was comfortable outwaiting their listeners who'd proved unable to solve (or even recognize) some remaining puzzle. If so, I asked myself how long they would really sit on rather than share their art, and how easy their helpful hints could become before they spoiled the fun of it. Also, in what clever way they could save face, if they eventually had to admit their maze had lost us? I feel like they would wait forever before insulting our intelligence. Forever or 12 years 10 months 5 days.

There is really 8 hexagons if you include the seven smaller one into its own entity.

The work in Geogaddi as a whole is by far my favorite in terms of their more eerie approach for sure.
Whereas Id say song's in general related or not probably "An Eagle In Your Mind", "Mukhinabaht", "Slow This Bird Down", "Sunshine Recorder" and "Jacquard Causeway"
are among my favorite tracks, this sort of more emotionally unclear tone they like to go for.

Evil/Eeriness/Uncanny brings a strange happiness to me.
That kind of in-between state.

I started making music so i could make more unnerving stuff.
I can never have enough.
