I'm guessing Tape 05 is a reference to it being the 5th album?

While I don't dislike Tomorrow's Harvest, it never quite hit the spot like the first three albums because a lot of it was cold and precise and I prefer the warbly, dissonant stuff. This track feels much more in that territory so I am hyped.

Completely. My first thought also at 1:40. Reminds me a lot of NIN "Right Where It Belongs" too.

This is just staggeringly, hauntingly beautiful. I could not be more hyped.

I've been a fan since around 2005ish I'd say, when I heard BoC in a mix I got off themixingbowl.org.

I'm so glad to have this forum to share the excitement with. My wife doesn't really get it - although she kindly took over doing the kids' tea when I heard this had dropped, cos she knows what it means to me.

Can't wait to have a proper listen later with headphones.

I'm so, so glad they're back!

That is a fair point..It's interesting they have titled this Tape 05. I am still leaning into the idea that whatever they will release will revolve around a visual companion other than just traditional music videos.

Is Tape 05 simply a "filler" title? Tape 05 seems a bit to simple for them. Many of the titles of their tracks are a play on words that have a much deeper meaning.

Is it just an excerpt from a collection of tapes? It would be insane if they released a VHS BoC Set or Blu Ray BoC set as either a stand alone or containing music from whatever new release is around the corner.

Regardless, this track is incredible. One hell of a way to make a return... completely worth the wait..and we have only just started up!

Happy to share this time on this great forum.

It's so good, and feels different from the other stuff they've put out, hopefully the album continues that trend (not that i'd be upset by getting something familiar)

This clearly sounds like they are going deeper into the cinematic and nihilistic soundscape that TH introduced. Not everyone is going to like it obviously, but tbh i hope people understand that there is a reason why BOC doesn't keep making beats like MHTRTC.

Hantologic art can't just be about the blissfull optimism of nostalgia. It also needs to be self-critical, show the distortion of time, that the past we experience is traped inside the present. Imo it's especially important in our current geopolitical age, where polititians have once again started to distort and instrumentalise the past as a means to endoctrinate. And clearly BOC gets it.

I think the fact that they are sending out VHS tapes is an indication that the next project might be multimedia and not just a new music album.

Oh boy. That is the SHIT right there.

Yup, totally! This, to me, seems like it might be a 'sequel' of sorts to Tomorrow's Harvest. The visuals, the VHS glitchiness, the gloomy and foreboding tone. But with slight hints of 'Campfire Headphase' thrown in as well.

And I'm so here for it! :D Tomorrow's Harvest was underappreciated for a long time, but today it seems to get the love it deserves.

Anyways, after they unveil more tracks we'll know more, but this first one is incredible.

I'm so happy, and so excited that I re-activated this account that I haven't used since 2020 or so. 8)

Interesting. I see it as a return to the canon, rather than a continuation of the TH sound. The harps are very cinematic to be fair. I guess we shall see.

We made it, lads. We bloody made it.

Amazing that there's no naysayers as yet. Long may that continue. I think we're all blown away.

Actually, yeah! I was thinking of the more ambient tracks from 'The Fragile' initially, but you're correct, it sounds more like 'A Warm Place.' The resemblance is there, I can't unhear it now.

I absolutely adore this track. Can confirm that it gets better with each listen.

ALSO! I can confirm that when you listen to it with earbuds, different details sort of 'pop out,' fore example a bit of an echoing hint of a melody behind the main stuff.

Also, I believe some of the faint voices in the last 30 seconds were sampled from shortwave radio! It has that familiar tinniness and distortion that voices get when you're barely on the same band/wavelength as the broadcast.

It sounds like a live recording, I thought. Anyone else?
