That was really nice. Wasn’t as dark sounding as I was expecting.

It definitely sounds like it picks up from the end of Tomorrows Harvest. The visuals and music then suddenly pick up and change mood. The same time everyone begins praying and worshiping, even erecting a cross.

They are referencing Christ’s return (not to the band) but to the world. Something that I mentioned in a previous post about playing out revelations and bringing in a new dawn, Aquarius. You might think I’m mad, but I’m sure a few of you will understand.

But we’re certainly not out of revelations yet, so I believe that the album will certainly get darker, especially with the artwork we’ve seen. I don’t think the tracks will be in any sort of chronological order either.

is pretty much BoCish. sounds like the mysterious track at the end of the societal x tape.

So, this turned out to be on the nose.

it really did, there's bits that are so similar to the new release.

Did I trigger the release of the new track/teaser?

it would be funny if the title "Tape 05" indicates this was actually the 5th tape they mailed out to somebody but that person has just never been able to play the tape to find out its unique contents have such a beautiful new BOC song inside rather than what everyone else got

That would be hilarious tbf

I am thinking about the trilogy of the first three albums the brothers talked about in an interview, and mentioned in a post that resurfaced a short time ago. And now there already seems to be a lot of similarities between TH and this new album through the VHS tapes and similar sound of this new track to some of the quieter tracks on that album.

If TH was about the collapse of civilisation/culture, this one is about... small cults, pocket civilisations, isolated communities in rural areas, groups rebuilding and dedicating themselves to beliefs beyond the mainstream of society... and then the children on the posters with the blind eyes, following blindly, indoctrinated, (brainwashed, although that sounds too negative), yet undeniably... happy, much like the people in the religious groups at the end of this new tape. Escape the mainstream culture and build your own community... but is that the answer? To give yourself over to a self-appointed guru/spiritual leader? It's a denial of reality, a denial of nature, the true nature that runs through the universe. Late night rambling :P

I can't put it into words, but I can emotionally feel a theme being hinted at here, and can't quite grasp it yet. In a good way!!

The production, while perfect for the track, seems a lot muddier and lofi than any of their recent releases, more attune to the older tapes. But then on top of that you've got the hard left and right gritty high end texture that doesn't fit with the mud, and that Japanese koto (I think), and that made me think about Marcus living in Japan.

Man, so much to take in. Today is a glorious day.

I take this back, Techboy mentioned in another thread that it sounds like it's been recorded live and that's what it is I think, it's not got that studio precision of their other albums. Which does open up the question of whether they have a live set....

Tbh, to me it sounds like it was recorded to VHS and then extracted from that. It has pretty much the same sound and feel of audio recorded to VHS. Doesn't sound like a live recording to me, especially given that when you listen to it reversed, there definitely seems to be some elements that were tracked and flipped.

It's interesting watching that video back and seeing the themes, the mix of views of humanity, some of the editing choices, cutting from fists thrown up in protest to hands raised in prayer.

People have been talking about the space theme for a while and I dunno if that is where they're going but it definitely made me think of that golden record on the Voyager craft. There's definitely a bitter sweet feeling to it, like it's saying this is us in all our promise and fallability.

It's so hard not to project meaning into it before seeing the whole thing.

Definitely hearing what I wanted to hear in terms of the kind of layering of sounds, that has been hinted at in some of the production and remix work they've done. Little moments that sound like they're pulled from whole other things.

Ohh, a digital single release! I hadn't even considered that!

June 9, 2026 is my guess for the album release date, for obvious reasons.

Don't forget that YouTube audio compression isn't great. There's almost certainly a bit of crispness missing in it.

Yes. There will be a huge majority who digitise themselves into digital economies, digital surveillance, monitoring, digital economy and environments. But there will be small pockets who refuse and form their own communities.

We’re already seeing that quite a lot. People dropping out of society and trying a self sustainable way of life. When our numbers drop in 100 years it will be a lot easier to self sustain. In 10,000 years. All that will be left are the rocks.

Great summary, it feels like they are taking on the subject of humanity in it's entirety, the utter beauty and tragedy of it all. I so hope we get a heart wrenching album from them, the moments where they venture into that area are some of their best.
