There's a huge emphasis on the failure and beauty of Human attempts to create new communal spaces in America, specifically. I feel like they're embedding the darkest, most prescient aspects of modern life within the context of the desire for humans to find meaning, order, and community. The music sounds like this to me, and also sums up the inevitable peace or silence that will follow the departure of humanity from the planet, likely due to our own self-caused extiction.
I should also mention that humans in general tend to gravitate towards imperfect group organizations or movements for well intended reasons, but often it becomes a vessel for power.
The closest, modern cult movement that is especially dark now is imo the Trump Cult / Death Cult that is still latched onto this destructive American Imperialist notion that we can control and maintain the world. America is falling apart, and BoC is writing the score to it
