Certainly seems pretty obvious to me but I guess you never know.

Its not zero chance, remember dune, the techno band?

Their last album was just orchestral music.

Dana is correct, it's technically possible as electronic artists have done it before when it wasn't expected.

Another example is 2methyl, the French drum n bass / dubstep / industrial artist.

His 2022 album was totally beatless dark ambient:

I have to disagree with you here. It would infact would be very bold to do indeed. I am all for it. If they actually really do this, it might be Grammy worthy.

So does being bold make it likely?

I'm betting on drums lol.

Its definately a possibility. Speculated as a ratio, I would say that 2:18 tracks might have drums. But who really knows ;)

Most of Burial's output in the last 10 years has been dark ambient. Yes, he's done some rave style breakbeats too, but in an "overheard from the parking lot" way. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that BoC might go primarily dark ambient.

Haha, I just don't see it. Even the name "Inferno" begs for drums. We see soon.

It has been my dream to get a BOC ambient album as their ambient tracks are amongst my favourites, This track in particular always made me want to hear more in this vein...

Not that Inferno will be anything like this of course, but I do wonder if we'll get some moments of heart wrenching beauty and serenity.

I love when they channel this sound that evokes Indian Classical music.

Oh god I would absolutely love some of this on Inferno. Perhaps with some dark undertones that come in and out during a track like this. It would be total bliss.

Now that the rollout is relatively over it seems, I'm very happy with how it transpired. I was hoping there would be no ARG cuz it felt unecessary, and instead just a surprise drop.

This fulfilled that hope and more, in the sense that they really managed to garner a lot of excitement and hope in such a short amount of time, with select but distinct actions. Now we anticipate and speculate on what it will sound like, joyfully and also perhaps anxiously. I love it.

There was a decent amount of dripfeed over the past few months in very small bits of activity too, which kept some heads excited while it was all still speculative. Thanks Fredd-E for keeping that hope going.

I have a good feeling that we are going to get just that. I have my eyes on "All Reason Departs" as an ambient banger.

I don't know how much you can attribute this track to them because it's just a Christian song reversed with some reverb effects. I do remember being fascinated by this track "back when", it's one of the best reversed pieces of music I've heard. Somehow it actually sounds like a foreign language with totally alien intonation instead of reversed English. Makes for a very unique "out of this world" vibe
