Now that I've sat with the tracks for 24hrs and listened about a dozen times, I keep being reminded of this track from Tangerine Dream. Of course, the irony here is GTA V came out in 2013 and #6 is due this year - the same timeline we've been working on with BOC from TH - Inferno.

entered this release cycle as a "will-not-listen-to-anything-'til-May-29th" proclaimer (I tend to be some'what rigid and rule-based though the 'spiritual growth' of my life has been tending away from these proclivities/compulsuions).
then recently'have been feeling skeptical of this orientation, generally, in my life.

so yesterday I watched the musicvideo three times and listened to the songs twice.
I'am trying to cut my'self off there 'til the 29th (still rules, though less rigid) with may'be one or two more audiovisual viewings/listenings.

just wanna say: I have never been more excited for Inferno to drop. (and that'is saying some'thing...I hope my friends & family will forgive me in time for all the BoC talk this last month / thirteen years.)

pretty thoroughly blown away.
earnestly feel it is such a refreshing, cathartic, true-to-form ... like they'are obviously BoC tracks but this would not fit on anything they have released before. closest to me is like a fusion of Geo & TCH but that is grasping.

I hear shades of The Field's Looping State of Mind, obviously people'are mentioning the gothic/shoegaze influences, but they'have managed to make some'thing shoegazey that feels fresh during a shoegaze-saturated moment.

also: the balance of repetition and change in this is one of their more skillful moments of their career, I think.
the song is super iterative. they do'not linger on any'thing too long (even as a diehard I some'times find the repetition in previous releases a bit much) and it makes the track addictive and rewarding on repeat listens.

Tomorrow's Harvest is my least-favorite album of theirs, though I cherish it in its own way (the album has always felt emotionally distant to me, which'is a success 'cause I think they'were going for it, but not a success in terms of my connection with it.).
I feel like this immediately blows TH away and gives me massive faith in what else is to come.

just fucking thrilled to be honest.

also: one of the best musicvideos I have ever seen? I think so. psyched about this Beatty collab.
mind-obliterating stuff. I can'not sustain a cohesive thought while watching it.

{goodwill to all !}

Hi after sleeping on it and listening again fresh this morning I'm pleased to share - these two tracks rule so fucking hard. I cannot WAIT for this album.

Is the INFERNO “cult” just a belief in oneself and nature? Jung meets Nietzche meets Emerson? Where other cults and religions require a belief in others or made-up beings, the cult leader “speaking” in Prophecy is doing the opposite. He’s saying look inward and you will find true freedom. Nature is god. Science is truth. Nothingness is freedom. The visuals seem to show this as well with the beginning of the vid displaying false prophets, monuments, imagery, and iconography and then… BAM, the voice of god (logos, self, etc.) drops and the hexagon “speaks.” We go from the chaos and manipulation of modern religion/cults to serenity and clarity of inner peace and the understanding that this is it. Now is the only thing that’s real. God is you and you are God.

This is, by far, the best BOC video ever released. It is almost essential for the song. I laugh halfway through it because it is so on point and beyond my expectations. I can’t wait for this albums final form.

I got the TD vibe, too, mentioned it earlier. A lot of their output can be pointed to as a comparison, but this in particular is what I was thinking of:

Yeah I hear it too. That's a great track and a new one to me. On the track I posted, I was really referencing the guitars and drum tracks are similar in style to the first half of Prophecy.

I believe the video section at the beginning of Prophecy at 1420Mhz is symbolic. The part where red dot patterns and white dot patterns end up harmonizing as they pass through that bright spot in the center while playing an instrument we largely attribute to aged religious culture. Doing so creates a resonance that builds and later starts to speak as god. You can watch it's growing complexity from simple patterns to complex. From spitting out shots of single cell organisms at the screen to spitting DNA and the human brain at the screen. Perhaps this is a visual representation of conscious self-awareness finding external harmony and in turn creating our sense of god and divine intellect.

Absolutely every aspect of the song and video feels to have deep meaning behind it with specific intention. I dare say this album may dwarf Geogaddi in terms of digging through symbolism and meaning.

That doesn't sound far off at all.

Yeah, no guitars on Genesis of Precious Thoughts, and yeah, the first two-thirds is most comparable. The end delivers a happier resolve than Prophecy for sure. Had not heard that GTA track myself, it's a banger. TD is one prolific band. Or BRAND really, it's more like an apprenticeship now with no original members left. But the DNA is always there and strong. Schnauss did his thing and left suddenly, always wondered what happened. He just disappeared.

I am intrigued by that opening sequence as well. It appears to be an astronomical model, I found this video yesterday while searching “light orbiting black hole” https://youtu.be/l3hmtbnYK_0?si=XH8wmNnH8yr-XCMA

I then was searching for early scientific computer animations of black holes, hoping to find an exact match to what we see in the music video. No luck thus far

I love the frame in the video from the perspective of the forest floor looking up at the canopy.

I’m surprised because they’ve made a point of saying they rarely sample vocals that they didn’t record themselves. I wonder if there is a similar source for Nothing Is Real.

My only real observation is that the voice heard throughout the song really harks back to the tone, style and voice of Sark in the original Tron movie.

Good to know that it is indeed 'Divine Intellect' over 'Behind Intellect'

What a trip this 1420 MHz prophecy and video is. Fractals, geometric patterns, cells dancing around, morphing imagery and the source of light always at the centre. It's as deep as it can get. Stunning really. Love the direction to which BOC is headed with sound and music. Curious and excited like a little kid to hear the rest of the album.

The vocals remind me of Itom Lab - Galactic Mantra.

That's wild. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cut-up_technique like David Bowie used to do. I guess even with the vocoding they rerecorded the vocals for the song though, right? Great choices.

I liked these lyrics when they were just abstract but now I think it might actually add more that the spiritual poetry is reassembled from decontextualised pieces of someone else's message.

For real, I'm trying to decide ok that must've been such an obscure pull, there's no way we were supposed to find that especially in this quick a time. I don't think we're supposed to notice it.

But, when you think about Syncretic Cults and how they mash all sorts of stuff together to form scripture that's kind of a funny parallel. Or how we can't help but see intelligence in AI when it's just doing the same thing. And how cults form around AI.

I know I'm overthinking and adding interpretation into something where it's probably not the intended reading but I'm enjoying doing it.

I mean the whole thing with the wow signal was that we were seeing something that wasn't actually there in noise, because we wanted it to be aliens, right?

I'm in a hotel room in Kirkcaldy overthinking while slightly buzzed, lol.
