I can't get over the 4-on-the-floor drop at 2:06 in Prophecy, it's so effing brutal. It's like marching orders, with those detuned (ring modded?) staccatto synths just saying "what you're being presented with is ominious and imposing in a completely uncompromising way". It's so intense.. I feel the lead-in serves this too, as well as the permutations the song goes through after the drums stop, it's like the daze after being punched in the head.

Well said. Yeah that switch to 4-on-the-floor with the kick is such a small change but it sounds HUGE. It's definitely imposing and relentless. In my books, I consider that a very powerful move in terms of variation. I love stuff like that

Watched the live stream last week and thought it was different and ok. Visuals are on point. Very fitting and inspiring. Hope the whole album will get some Had a listen again with good headphones today and I'm liking it a bit more. That said, for me there are still some weird choices in Prophecy At 1420 MHz. Vocoder part sounds a bit too much like Pye Corner Audio. Still impressive overall and I'm looking forward to hear the whole thing. Tape 05 still sounds incredible. Thinking this will be an experimental album.

There’s no better way. Once the album is out I’m going to listen endlessly. The stylistic shift from Introit to Prophecy At 1420MHz is big… I can hardly fathom how the rest of the music is going to unfold.

I listened on youtube, and again to the FLAC's on my Bottlehead Crack tube amp - sounded incredible.

Judging new music from any legendary band is a fraught endeavour, but I only discovered BOC in 2020 and had their entire discography to navigate, and after MHTRTC I knew their music would have a profound impact and I couldn't rush the experience. It took a few years before I got a feel of where each albums belongs, sonically and emotionally, and this is before I even started on the EP's and old tapes last year...

Prophecy at 1420mhz is interesting on first listen, not what I expected, which is a good thing, didn't blow me away either, but it might make more sense in the context of the full album. The beats were perhaps a little more sterile than I'm used to, I loved the ending, and can't wait for more. Warp said the new album "draws on the esoteric influences explored in the SXT and the darker ambience on TH", I'm looking forward to that, and will keep listening to SXT until 29th - can't get enough of that mix.

Someone on Reddit shared full albums of the source music for SXT mostly in FLAC and i've gone down a psychedelic rabbit hole, discovering The Avalanches only yesterday, so much good music thanks to this place

Yes, I’m feeling connected to my instincts because after the Mr. Mistake Remix was released I remember thinking “I hope their sound continues to move in this direction.”

I may be projecting, and it’s satisfying for me to think about it this way, but it feels like they’ve been revealing the new direction of their sound in since 2016 through the Nevermen Remix work and Societas X Tape.

The ‘live’ drum sound in Prophecy At 1420 Mhz evokes the Mr. Mistake Remix, and the groove feels connected to Treat Em Right.

There vocal cries and OM sounds in Mr. Mistake sound similar to some of the vocals in PA1420 Mhz. And there’s the Hindustani flute line at the end of Mr. Mistake - the flute that begins the new track also has a Hindustani-like timbre but they’re detuned. I think we may hear more Indian Classical influence throughout Inferno (I’m also thinking of the M. S. Subbulakshmi track on Societas). Industrial raga.

Also, did anyone notice that the percussion in the outro of PA1420 Mhz sounds like gamelan?

I’m still thinking about the resonances between the Nevermen Remixes and the new music. And is anyone else hearing the gamelan-like percussion?

Couldnt resist a cheeky replay (without wanting to wear out the 24bits) and_damn_ this track is heavy. You need the coda / outro to recover a bit. Will be a wreck by the end of the full album!

Prophecy is an overwhelming track. I'm still in shock since the premiere. Reach for the Dead and Seeds of the Dead set up the tone for TH so incredibly well. If these two tracks (maybe 3 since tape 05) are any indicator for the tone of the rest of the album, then this is probably gonna be their best work.

Nah, I just listen to stuff however much I want. If it's good I'm not going to wear it out. Like I've heard songs on their other albums 100s of times and still enjoy them. If anything I appreciate them with more listens.

Anyone look up Seyyed Hossein Nasr yet? I was surprised to learn that he is an Islamist. I'm curious if the broz knew that? Makes me wonder if the samples they used of him were samples they thought would be neat for the song, or if the samples do hold significant meaning that lines up with their worldview.

I have to admit, the more I listen to what Nasr believes, the less serious I take it.

One of them, if not both of them, watched the entire seminar in its entirety. From what I've gathered, they have an elevated interest in these subjects no matter what their personal beliefs are. The quotes chosen are deliberate, and one in particular "seat of consciousness" comes all the way at the end of the talk. And the inclusion of what sounds like a Persian Ney isn't a coincidence either.

But, considering the last sample they made says "Nothingness. . . The Absolute Truth" might be more akin to what they truly believe philosophically speaking. ***Massive speculation***

Been awhile since iv posted, but i finally figured why the flute sounded so familiar. Its very similar to the flute in the opening scene to "the cell." Could they have sampled it? There is even the same kind of shimmer sound at 1:09 of the prophecy video thats also in the cell, when hes flashing the mirror. Almost exactly to my ears.
