Yeah, why not!? A bit early if you ask me, but since the other one is no longer relevant and there’s a demand for a part 3, here it is.

PLEASE READ THE RULES
KEEP IT FORMAL, NO NONSENSE POSTING PLEASE

Topic Guidelines: Discussion on Upcoming Release

Welcome to the new discussion thread for anything related to forthcoming releases. This is the place to share your thoughts, theories, questions, and any remarks. But please, keep it focused on the subject at hand.

Guidelines:

  • Stay on-topic:
All posts should be directly related to the new release(s).
Off-topic messages will be quietly removed, as we aim to keep the signal clear.

  • Be formal:
This thread is for thoughtful, informed discussion.
While we appreciate creativity, let’s keep things focused and avoid wandering too far into detours.

  • An informative space:
This thread is especially important for our newer members, who may have many questions about the upcoming release(s). We want to keep the conversation grounded, dense and helpful as we piece together the details.

As of now, all other threads related to a new release will be closed.

Mike said he could crank out a new album every week if he didn't have responsibilities. They've mentioned having children but technically they could be grown up now or at least soon. We might get new releases faster.

Not that I care. I've said this in the past, people shouldn't obsess over waiting for anything. Carpe diem motherfuckers

So...that drone at the listening sessions then. Future EP track?

Ok, I didn't want to start a new topic for this as it could mean nothing, but seeing as a new Speculation megathread has dropped, it seems like the perfect opportunity to mention...

The rear of the Inferno listening session envelope includes a barcode:

5 056818 809064

I've matched this against the barcode on the Inferno LP (both variants) and CD, and this one is similar, but the last 4 digits are different each time. I have also tried running it through a barcode scanner app but this has yielded no results. What could this be referencing? The cassette? Something else entirely?

Again, this may not mean anything, but nevertheless I find it interesting that Warp would choose to print a unique barcode onto an envelope, especially when it was never for sale.

(Apologies if this has already been discussed and I've missed it.)

Hmm. Well, boringly, it could just be it was an expense to produce, right? So even if given away to customers it's a product. Maybe it's there so the record company can account for it, or maybe the record stores actually bought their swag packs along with the album orders

I agree a 4 track EP could be likely..

Followed by that long awaited BOC set of old material which Marcus has been maticulously working on whilst Mike was busy with Inferno.

If they wait another 13 years they'll be 68 and 66 years old.

But I bet they'll still have it by then.

It's possible, but if we adopt that logic, wouldn't the Beatty booklet and hex keyring feature barcodes too?

I really don't want it to be, but I just can't help feel that the ending of Inferno is an end credits goodbye, topped off with a heartbeat stopping at the last moment. I do hope i am wrong, but my gut is telling me that's all folks!

Nah. People have said that after each of the last three albums. I don't think they're done.

It feels like where the hell do they go from here now though? The themes behind this album are so huge - universal consciousness, religion, death, rebirth, heaven, hell, nihilism. It's the BOC magnus opus. I just hope I'm wrong and you're right!

I was really curious about that barcode too, because the record store I was at just had them all in the delivery box and pulled them out and gave it to us, bo scanning at all. So… why?? Is it maybe for some of the vinyl shipments that seem to include them (my shipment didn’t include one though).
