Official thread for the 17th song on Inferno, please discuss it here.

Absolutely gorgeous one. Blown away. This is the BoC song I would happily wait 13 years for, because it nearly made me tear up both times tonight. BEAUTIFUL.

This was a breath of fresh air amongst the gloom for me. Was hoping for more of this kinda thing throughout but pleased it got there in the end. I instantly hoped that track 17 & 18 are the segue into a brighter chapter yet to come.

I did not expect that switchup halfway through, it sounds absolutely lovely though. Would love to hear more of this. Almost feels a little out of place on this album?

I like to give it at least a year before judging new music in comparison to their previous work but in the hype and at the moment I feel like this could be a contender for my all time favourite BoC song. We'll see if I still feel that way once the new album hype dies down but it is incredible.

To me it feels like the "completed it" song as far as the ultimate aesthetic BoC goes for. It's beautiful, nostalgic and the most "vintage BoC" song on the album by miles.

The little bass guitar run at 3:28 is a goosebumps moment.

A lot of people are saying this sounds like something from MHTRTC but honestly I'd say this evokes the Societas X Tape so much for me. It feels like it'd be right at home there as clearly this is one where BoC are drawing from so many of their influences of the past.

I'm not a great lover of this one at the moment. It feels like a pastiche. Need to sit with it properly.

The parallels with Angelo Badalamenti for the intro here are unmistakable. Particularly something like The Voice Of Love.

Twin Peaks has been a constant source for ambient artists since the beginnings of the genre. Sure the boys have used vocal samples from there before? Or I might be getting confused with Biosphere?? Been listening to a lot of old school ambient lately but have definitely heard them in the last few days.

Biosphere definitely used a lot of Twin Peaks. Most notably Major Briggs on Hyperborea, and The Giant on The Things I Tell You.

UltraBoC.

This reminds me of "Nothing Is Real" on TH, as they both seem like the track they made as a nod to the fans who want the old vintage Roygbiv BoC sounds.

Really like it

Tearjerker of a song. Beautiful.

Cheers Rikkiebags. It dawned on me after I posted. "Sorry to wake you. I forgot to tell you something. The things I tell you will not be wrong." Classic. Also had the Kray Twins one giving me an earworm the other day... "We shared the same dream".

BoC & Biosphere are 2 of the best that ever emerged from the atmospheric soundscape brigide imo. Honourable mentions to Woob & Gas(High Skies) too.

i cried and got goosebumps when the second part hit
BoC always have a way for reaching your soul trough their music and with you retreat in time and space they do that again even 13 years later

It keeps on playing in my head long after it's finished and gains even more power while doing so. Absolutely brilliant.

Love this one. But not sure it fits with the album.

Still a lovely tune.

The first half reminds me of the disappointment I felt years ago when I first tried to give Stars of the Lid a listen and found them sappy rather than crushing.

Tried closing my eyes when I listened to it for the first time and had a pretty clear vision of my friends smiling, like, one by one, was a wonderful experience, great song, definetly a highlight

I was just so pumped on adrenaline when this one hit at the listening session. I was beaming.

Last night I did my second playthrough of the album. Headphones, laying on the floor. It hit me much harder. Instant classic.

Just played the album for the third time. Listened on the home stereo while sitting on the couch with my wife. This song broke me this time. I knew it was going to eventually. Overcome with a sense of feeling super grateful that I got to share something like this with someone I love. I am grateful that we all made it to this point and we all got to experience this. In the midst of everything, this feels like a special time I will not ever forget it.

Fucking incredible song. It feels like a gift. It joyfully and tastefully hits so many of the past BoC tropes most of us know and love. It is truly the HOLD MY BEER song on the album.

Corny or cringey? Sure, whatever. I have been waiting 13 years to feel exactly this feeling. It was fucking worth it.
