This one really reminds me of Statue Of Liberty, just a reworked, more lush and warm version. I think it's the combo of guitars and those haunting synth melodies.

Definitely hear Statue of Liberty in there. A bit Lynchian

Reminds me of Ben Holton of Epic45's 'The Balloonist' project, which is a very good thing that you should check out!

Y'all nailed it. Sounds like it could have been on R35TT.

Beginning to think this is my favourite track on Inferno. Been trying to work out the time signature, sounds like it's in 14/8 with an occasional 15/8 or 16/8 added to keep it all off-balance. What an amazing guitar riff. Then that nice little ritardando at the end: chef's kiss.

Aye, so very glad to hear them getting Old Tunesy on this one! This is a bit like if Statue Of Liberty had been on Campfire, I think I even heard them intentionally making it sound like a crappy limewire mp3 at a few points lmfao. Also the washed out guitars remind me of Yo La Tengo which is always a plus. Fucking gorgeous track, wish there was a bit more of it but they can't all be 5 minutes I suppose lmao
If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?
Spoiler: show
Unfortunately I have no clue lmao. But while you're here, go ahead and check out some of my tunes! You might dig 'em and stuff!

Y'ALL!!! it's the chord progression from 5.9.78!!! that's the R35TT/AFOT vibe that you may be picking up on!! at least, the intervals between those bass notes are the same as 5.9.78. I got SO excited when I realized it

Cocteau Twins influence on full display here. Sounds like a lost tape of Victorialand on a dying tape player.

Anyone made out the full sound heard in the background starting at 1:32? Can hear a faint high pitched shrieks, with some associated deeper “slamming” or “closing” sounds.

Worth noting in this thread that the title likely comes from the Sean Booth AMA...

"They're probably in the future somewhere worrying about why it isn't like the past."

- Sean Booth of Autechre when asked about Boards of Canada during a Twitch AMA on June 5, 2022

Yeah for sure but it's also very much relevant to the platonia concept. According to which time doesn't exist and the only temporal unit that can exist is "now". The title sounds like a paradox but makes sense in that context
