Just wanted to post a new topic, none are really all that appealing right now... ok..

This post is about the little subtle details that took a while for you to notice in BoC tracks. One of best ones in my opinion, that I've never heard anyone mention is a short little burst of sublime music 30 seconds into Sixtyten. You have to listen really closely to hear it, it's in the background, but it's amazing in the one second it comes on for. So.. feel free to post those interesting details that you've discovered over the years.

Pete Standing Alone - the bit just after the beats come in where there's a fantastic little sequence of beats that isn't repeated after that. Genius!

Yeah, that little burst is awesome. The way it just melts into the background.

Here's another one. That weird sweeping looped sound at the beginning of the track. It comes in 9 seconds in and stops right when that little burst comes in.

Has anyone seen the movie Creepshow? There's a sound during the meteor segment (that stars Stephen King) that is fucking identical to that sound! And since BOC have sampled Romero movies before, I wouldn't put this one past them.

Also, I didn't notice that weird little breakbeat at the beginning of An Eagle In Your Mind for a long time. I put it on in the car and turned it up and was like, "What the fuck?! That's awesome!" There's lots of neat little details in that track.

I was just thinking about this today, how evertime I listen to their cd's i'll notice a little sound in the background I have never noticed before.
I just recently discovered the man talking during Eagle in Your Mind. I could always hear the chopped up vocal samples that were part of the beats, but the man's voice in the background actually says quite a long sentence.
Also in Triangles and Rhombuses if you listen with headphones they pan the sounds back and forth and it makes you feel as if you are floating.

It blew my mind when I first heard the actual "fly in the pool" at about 10 seconds in... I had listened to that OT track countless times and finally noticed it when it was cranked...

The voice taking about Amo Bishop Roden in Poppy Seed (at around 5:16) is also a nice little detail...

i could probably go by albums but lemme name a few:

the sudden stop in 'olson' followed by the piano playing

the synth line moving up at about 20 seconds in on 'gyroscope'

also the AHHs in 'aquarius version3' from the peel session...nice change from MHTRTC

another is how (on mine atleast) the songs on BOC Maxima all kinda blend into eachother making it one ethereal trippy expierance

That the 11 minute track on the Warp 10th Anniversary might be one of their older tracks, like Line Two of Visual Drone Two from Catalog 3, cause the lengths are sort of the same.

Oh and in the same track, from around 2:30 to 2:50, you can hear a phone in the background.

I dunno. To me it sounds like it could have been from the MHTRTC - Geogaddi era. Perhaps an outtake from those sessions. I don't think they would dive into their back catalog for a live performance since they don't want people to hear that shit anyway.

the one that sticks out most in my mind is in alpha and omega, around 3 or 4 minutes in, where the drumbeat just stops, the synth line sounds like it's being played backwards and it just kind of swells into this mini-crescendo. gives me the old tingles every time.

i was listening to An Eagle In Your Mind lastnight with me headphones and i only noticed that through out the track there is a snorthing sound like someone doing 2 lines of coke over and over again. that tune made sense to me there and then with the details in the tune and the name.

also on Triangles and Rhombuses there is a faint whistle going up and down in the first half of the track.

and AND!!! in sixtyten, where the scratchy bit is through out the track, if you listen closely you can hear the same scratch go backwards straight away every time!

and there was something in wildlife analysis and something strange in telephasic workshop that i heard but i cant remember it for the life of me.

there was so many more things but i have to listen again.

EDIT: in olson the piano is THROUGH OUT the whole track.

'Oscar See Through Red Eye' @ 3:48 when the reverse guitar stabs its way in and then releases into longer notes falling away then accompanied by one really nice bass lick.

'Telephasic Workshop' - Just the continuous speaking noises that grow and grow yet theyre still so hard to make out because of the transform effect. Love how females seem to appear as it goes as well. Not forgetting the random 'Boards Of Canada' quote.

But my fav has to be in 'Sixtyten' @ 2:52. 1st time I heard that noise I was like WTF was that!!!!

And it never comes back again. Its jus one evil dirt renching noise. I had to rewind straight away. I still do to this day. So chilled/ambient yet so so tough!!

Another I'd like to mention is at the end of In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country (the track). It starts at 4:29 and ends at 4:38. It's so beautiful... it perfectly ends the track, and makes the song complete IMO. Here, I've attached it . http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... C50BDB8525

I just happened to play "BMX Track" today and someone pointed out to me that the bass, or bass drum sound sounds much like when you press a microphone up to your throat and beatbox.... never thought of that, but now that I listen, it sounds like it

I like the 'Yellow' sample in Alpha & Omega at 4:17. the funny thing is that that track is now yellow in my mind and I'm not normally synesthetic at all.
