i get sick of the ugliness that shows itself when this topic gets brought up. sometimes it doesn't show at all, but often it does. you know what i'm talking about? it's what happens the instant some BoC fan is walking the line and steps over from "anxious and excited" to "pathetic" and it's the same exact thing that happens when those in the know are walking the line and step over from "silent and reserved" to "impatient and unkind". it's like a race to see who can make the relationship between fans and band sour first.

i'm trying to word this so it doesn't sound like i'm dumping on BoC fans for being expectant and hopeful and even a little paranoid because i find that aspect of the BoC fangroup to be kind of charming, and i'm trying not to dump on hexsun members or whoever for being annoyed at the badgering they often get, but i HAVE seen secretive bands AND their fans take the high ground and not take up attitude towards one another. hypothetically, if mike and marcus posted a message like "we don't have time to dick around on your stupid internet, we're very busy making music leave us alone and piss off" i wouldn't be very excited about the band anymore, even if the album was superb and the fans were acting rabid and "asking for [a message like that]".
