Well, it's 09:46 GMT and I'm still here. Then again, is is actually 09:46? I mean, is it REALLY still 09:46???

Seriously though, the real stuff starts next month, like somebody else said above. As I understand it, this morning was merely turning the ignition key, adjusting the rearview mirror and giving it a couple of revs with the right foot...

I saw a documentary last year about this LHC called The God Particle. It's all really above my feeble mind, but exciting none-the-less.

I'm sure Dopplereffekt are super happy right about now (well, what they do for "happy").

Edit: I feel exactly how Mexicola describes in his first post - wonderfully baffled indeed!

If I was one of those big-cheese scientists, and if I was this close to discovering the "God Particle" which could help me discover the unified theory, which could make me more famouser than Einstein and more richer than Bill Gates, and if knew there was a 50/50 percent chance that I'd accidentally blow up the entire world and destroy all of mankind (and myself), then, obviously, I'd put on my shiny white lab coat and, whilst stroking my almost-rich-and-famous beard and sipping earl grey, I'd press that shiny red button.

You know what's hilarious? Even if you were the scientist to do all that, the media would still rather cover whether or not Brittany Spears shaved her twat while driving drunk, or what kind of adult diapers that crazy astronaut wore. You'd be forgotten as quick as you were discovered. Nobody gives two shits about anything even remotely intellectual, intelligent, groundbreaking, or flat out fucking amazing anymore.

Let's all put 50 Cent as our ring tones and jump off a bridge.

That came out far more cynical than I wanted it to! Sorry!

Well spoken. It's sad, but it's true. Most people don't care. I am not one of them however, and I'm eager to hear the results of the first test.
