I made these bootleg shirts for me and some friends a couple years ago (before BoC had shirts on their site)

I was thinking of doing another run. Would anyone here be interested?

sweet shirt! that design is dope!

i'm not a huge fan of big heavy standard-size cardboard cotton shirts though, since i'm smallish and really skinny, they look like big boxes on my torso

Because there are official shirts in the running.

I can't approve of this thread. It feels the same as pirating their music by downloading mp3s illegaly whilst you have to option to buy them online or via a retail store. I think the same stance we have regarding music & copyright is in order here.

I do like this design though, but I don't think it's an appropriate thread at all.

people have written about buying tees on ebay, and i have bought both official and unofficial t-shirts in the past.

but point taken, this may not be an appropriate place.

many, many moons ago i went to a bluetones gig. before they came onstage i went to the merchandise stall to have a look around and stood there was the lead singer, mark morriss. i said hi and that i was considering buying something to which he replied, "why dont you buy it from the touts outside, its cheaper".

just sayin'.

Yup. Spot on.

Love The Bluetones and saw em live many times. Mark Morris is a bit like that though isn't he? Doesn't surprise me at all. I've no idea whether BOC approve/disapprove or even give two tits about T-Shirts, official or otherwise. The tees here look fantastic, with a cracking design. But when all is said and done, it's making £$£ off the back of their art.

I'll shut up now.

fair enough.

as there is so little BoC merchandise, i just get excited when something 'new' arrives - presumably like the other boarders who have shown interest in these t-shirts.

i have and old official BoC shirt, and don't feel obliged to buy another just because there's a new run (in the same design, albeit in different colours).

bootlegging is hardly new. if somone actually made joy division oven gloves i would probably buy them.

now i'll shut up.

the same counts for illegal mp3 sharing, but we don't tolerate that either over here.

I don't want to be the hostile moderator, but I think we need some consistency on this piracy matter. If we don't allow the sharing of illegal mp3s, we definitely shouldn't allow custom non-official merchandise either (especially with sales profits for anyone but BoC themselves). Same principle imho. I also think MDG doesn't approve of this... we should be promoting the real stuff instead!

I don't see a problem with this thread. It's a shirt Boards of Canada had no hand in designing, and it uses no images or even fonts they have used previously in merchandise. I say fair game.

Now if this thread was about an identical knock off of the shirts being sold on bleep, I could see where you're coming from....

Fair enough. I still think it's not really appropriate. And the design instantly reminded me of the cover on In a beautiful place out in the country. It's clearly inspired on that design.

Before this morphs into a thread about the morality of piracy, I just have to reaffirm my interest in buying the t-shirts solely on the fact that the logo is freaking AWESOME and nothing more :)

not to go against the moderation here, but i do feel like mentioning it's hard not to be excited by this kind of thing, especially considering that the official BoC shirts were out of stock for a while and their logo designs are, sorry, pretty boring  a few years ago that logo was the shit, i even made a full size yellow-on-green fan-poster of it, but now it sits in my closet and my 1 official and 1 unofficial (bought before the officials were rolled out) BoC shirts both sit in my drawers unworn. yawwwwwn. this design is sexy and new. hire him, BoC!

wow, i didnt really want to start any sort of internet controversy

i guess i should explain a little more
i made these shirts with some friends around 2002 before there was even an official BoC shirt to be found. i had no intention of actually making any money i just wanted a BoC shirt, and in the end i actually lost money

anyway i guess now that since there are actual shirts to be had from the band maybe its not such a good idea and i dont want to raise the ire of the sandison brothers in any way should they find out. although i do have to say that it seems there is a twoism mix that is sold on here that has artwork that is very much inspired by the in a beautiful place... art which also seems to fall into a grey area of copyright infringement but i don think we need to discuss it anymore

i just wanted to spread a little BoC love but i dont want to come across as some bootlegging bastard so we can just consider the subject dropped
