Luckily I salvaged the two tracks. I want to believe.
Now we should decode the titles, even for the heck of it.
The question is how?

Why should we go decoding these titles? They're just random shit written by a fake account.

No offence, but I think the Twoism community just came across as being desperate enough with that whole fiasco. Why waste time trying to decode random titles of songs by some hoaxer? Time to move on lads..

The uploader of those videos added text to the Hell Interface Remix vid before it closed basically saying that it was a hoax account he set up because he had nothing better to do and that people obsessing over it should get a breath of fresh air. Seeing as this thread has gone on for ten pages I can't help but agree..

Does anyone have a copy of the original full-length Sandrail mp3 from last.fm that they can post up? The link from earlier got its read access pulled. I've got a recording of it, but I'd rather have the original. Reason I ask--I'm personally almost certain it's real (nothing like inside info, just lots of observation).

It would only be a 128kbps MP3. So it wouldn't be worth it.

Yep, still better than what I have though (bet you're gonna laugh): a 96k 32bit recording of it :o. There's some noise, but amp'd up a little it looks like there's content at decent SNR clear up past 20khz, I'd really like to see what the 128's got.

[edit: aaaah thx V! ps. for an example of what I'm thinkin about, play this and then Bocuma right on its heels...for more, the tone switches of Roygbiv, the layering of Oirectine, Melissa Juice at >= 0:21, and Sixtyniner esp. as you get closer to the 2:45 mark...something else to note is this track is supposedly dated around '98]

It does sound an awful lot like 1986 Summer Fire.

EDIT: And Duffy too, for that matter.

I can see 86 Summer Fire but where do you get Duffy from?
Mind I'm listening to this at half speed, half pitch since the speed and pitch it's at originally sounds too unnatural to me.

Well, listen to the song at regular speed then. At 4 seconds in Sandrail and 11 seconds in Duffy there is a very similar tone. I don't know how to describe the not, but they sound very similar. The sound appears several times in Sandrail, but not Duffy, most likely due to its length. And just to be clear, we are talking about the same short sample of Duffy, right?

Hm I still don't /quite/ hear it but it's cool how similar it sounds to Bocuma

The first thing I recognized was the synth quality and the note timing/variation style (immediately reminded me of Bocuma). I think Z might be hearing another angle...the dual melody similarities w/Duffy--working two tones in ways that complement each other. In Duffy it sounds to me like an early version of that experimentation (one of the tones holds a constant note that sounds handpicked for maximum complement, while the other is used to carry the forefront melody). That's dated from what, '89? In Sandrail (if I had to guess I'd guess at around '94-'95) it sounds more advanced to me, an extreme exploration of the interplay of two melodies--they depart in complementary ways, then periodically rejoin at what sounds like points of desired stress of tone. The depth of that interplay (it purposefully flirts with off-time and off-tone at points) and deep similarities to so many other songs from that time is what struck me so hard. Oh and I slowed it down and realized that's why I didn't hear the connection with 86 Summer Fire...man y'all have good ears.

You mean the general counterpoint of it?
I can see the comparison but it's much more subtle. Comparisons to Bocuma, 86SF and Melissa Juice are much more apt to my ears.
I personally don't think it has enough low end but that's probably the rip of it.
Yeah Sandrail is convincing as fuck, but do you think maybe the original fakers were patsies/false alarms for something bigger? I mean the Hell Interfakers and Orphel Binuswade.

Some of the other songs we recognized sound like a progression of an idea from Duffy onward, maaaybe filling that gap and explaining the subtlety. For ex, a playlist for hearing dual synthline work at play: Duffy (one synthline stays constant, the other holds the tune), 1986 Summer Fire (one synthline varies but slowly, the other varies by 2x and is accentuated by the choice of tone in the other), Melissa Juice (one varies significantly but in a repetitive tune while the other accentuates), Sixtyniner (more complex interplay between two synthlines), Oirectine (same idea), Sandrail (extreme exploration at the edge of the idea [edit: the 2 lines kinda act like 2 sand rails chasing each other]), Bocuma (exploring the melody more but bringing in some of the timing, tone shift and interplay too).

I wish I'd gone and listened to those 'Ophel Binuswade' clips, I have no idea about them (I'm guessing no one saved them). It does smell like some serious mystery stuff. Why would the videos *and* account just disappear (ex. not for copyright)? Seems funky, and not BOC-ish or even RSD-ish (I'd imagine most fakers would keep stuff up longer too, for max laffs). The clip names sound waaacky, as wacky as the name...where would some faker come up w/that? Anyway that's all I've got w/out hearing the clips.

If I'm following it all right, the connection to last.fm is the highest res HI image found, put up by bailenantrodach. If I had to guess, I'd lean towards Opothecary's take--bailenantrodach is official (I'd say actually one of the brothers if they didn't both have their own accounts). Wasn't most of the footwork for the RSD-related incidents put together by help based on theirs or group ideas (not directly them)? Warp folks? It's possible bailenantrodach is someone from the label, and even the choice of name would match the RSD sneakiness. I'm thinking we should keep an eye out at least  wait that's too conspiracy-ey, this one 8) there we go, frosty.

Well, I have the clips, and have been sitting there, I don't know if they're worth something or not because I can't tell if they're fake, but I have them on my ipod so I can decide on the go, on loop, kinda hypnotizing. But my conscience says there's something VERY wrong with the clips in general.

Look, the pictures from the clips came from a flickr account. BoC would only use their own pictures/the ones of the Hexagon Sun collective. The tape was fake, and so are these clips.. give up this trail guys, there's nothing here

yeah...the dude who started the account in the first place edited his hell interface video before deleting it with annotations about how he faked the account out of boredom while his leg was broken. just another hoaxer. as for the last.fm stuff - it's interesting but probably a dead end. just like all of the other clues that led nowhere from the RSD incident we'll probably never figure out what the deal with Sandrail is

very sorry for bumping this after so long but i just realized something about the New Clear Dawn register thing and the old uploaders name "Orphel Binuswade" isn't the name "Orphel" credited in the making of the old BoC website?

"website credits:
site created & maintained by: kelly, pb, amo, pic, crofter, goderich, rubene, dw,
db, orphel, ketchler, deni, boc, hexagon sun. "

sorry if someone already pointed this out
