Where's that Ron Paul "it's happening"

I haven't been here long enough to know why people have a beef (medium rare no less yfm) with joyrex, but I trust him. He gave early warning to Syro being released, and in 2013 brought us the Ask Autechre Anything event, and that was fucking amazing. Besides, he has no reason to openly provoke and be rude to BoC fans. I'm choosing optimism on this one!

lol ok? how is he an idiot? seems like a pretty genuine dude to me.

Anyways, to have both MDG and JR independently indicate there's something on the horizon sure makes it seem we'll likely see some sort of release.

lol what authority do you have? this made me     a lot so thank you for that.

I think that him and mdg and whomever else, when they speak, do it for a reason, and the past will show that this is true every case (except for april fool's, which if I remember right, is the day in which you bullshit people for fun). He mentioned a june release I believe a good month before it was true, along with mdg, and one or two other posters who claimed to be in the know (one who apparently knew or was photographed in the geogaddi album artwork)... so I would say no, he is not an idiot but just another fellow who knows more than you about what BOC are up to, and happens to have a sense of humor.

To be on topic; I wonder if the New Clear Dawn thing will ever mean anything other than nonsense.

I really want it to - it's just too rad not to be utilized more than some one-off website.

What is with all this nastiness? Lively debate is fine, but this is just petty.

It doesn't really belong in this corner of the world.

Wasn't it Joyrex in 2013 who said "From what I've heard a new album will be released in June" or something to that effect regarding BOC, well before the Record Store Day vinyl kickstarted everything. I give his word more credence than usual because he was dead on the money there.

this exactly. This is what I was talking about and so this is why I believe it's unfair to discredit him for what I believe to be a totally healthy april fool's joke. As for the pettiness of this debate, I agree, but I think it is unfair to be critical on one of a few sources of credible news due to not being able to handle an april fool's joke, and when I see nonsense I will confront such nonsense. That being said, it is unnecessary for me to antagonize something where there is nothing positive to be gained. I guess to derive any sort of useful meaning from my or anyones' posts recently would be to say that it is interesting that new clear dawn exists to begin with and that a bunch of fellows took notice and made an effort to dissect it, and the fact that joyrex, mdg, and others are speaking is certainly something worth acknowledging. It means something to me, because the last time they all spoke up in a relatively close time period to each other, it spelled Tomorrow's Harvest.

ye are all wrong. it was in fact a mysterious poster on his own forum who predicted correctly around february i think. they said that they knew someone who knew them or something and that it will be dark like geogaddi, coming out in june. they were correct on both descriptions. their name began with and 'S' i think. its there anyway if you care to look for it. i tried there, but it could be in speculation named thread. many took it, as usual with a pinch of salt, but personally felt it would be dark, every 2nd number.

I realize this thread hasn't been bumped in a while, but I visited this site a while back, before Tomorrow's Harvest was released. When I did, I noticed something immediately.
However, I met the misfortune of my computer dying on me soon after, and I eventually forgot about my discovery and never got around to posting it. So, here goes.

Image
"Frontline Net Observation Research & Development"
stands for the term "Fnord".

This is a term from geek culture which functions more or less like the "</s>" or "/s" irony punctuation, used to indicate that someone is being sarcastic or joking.
I believe there is little debate that this was done intentionally, and as a hint that this website should be taken with a grain of salt. However, as it stands, it's hardly a website...just an index.html page and a single image.

Faced with this mysterious lack of direction, I poked around as much as I could, but found nothing:
  • There isn't anything revealing in the source code, which several alternate reality game websites have hidden information in.
  • The images directory has access to it blocked.
  • Despite the sole image on the page being labelled as "ncd3.jpg", attempts at visiting ncd2, ncd1, or ncd0.jpg proved fruitless.
  • ncd3.jpg doesn't have anything lurking in terms of EXIF info or other metadata.

I haven't trawled through the surprising number of pages that this Twoism thread has amounted to,
but I certainly shall, as I'm scratching my head over what led any fans to even consider this website
as connected to Boards of Canada in the first place.

Further information on "Fnord":

Do a "whois" search on the domain name and you will see why it is in one way or another connected to the band ;-) welcome btw.

someone had noticed the letters FNORD, and posted about it in this thread a few years back. the discussion about it begins on page 3 of this topic.

as far as how boc fans found the website in the first place. years before tomorrows harvest was released, it somehow got leaked that the band would be releasing an album called new clear dawn (nuclear dawn). around the same time boc's warp page was updated, with a photo of a nuclear bomb going off. im guessing people ran a search on new clear dawn, and found that website to be very mysterious and boc like.

At one point the owner was "Orphel Binuswade" (there was a whole thread on this I think) and I noticed that in the very old BoC website, Orphel was listed in the credits for making the site. Maybe Orphel is a friend of theirs who just likes making websites?
